There's literally no reason for this thread and the Smash Bros thread in Games to exist simultaneously, they're the exact same thread in two different places.

One's for discussing the game as its playerbase, the other is for documenting the drama which circulates in the community from the perspective of observers.

This is like when all those evangelicals bought copies of Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast purely to destroy it, and Iron Maiden's response was thanking them for the money.

All this moron's done is destroy something he paid money for, and there's not a chance Nintendo's going to give him a refund. Actually it's even worse here since Steve's optional DLC so he could just, y'know, not buy it.

Setting aside that this likely a copy-pasta, as @Desu Mountain pointed out, Notch left development of Minecraft in 2011, and left Mojang completely back in 2014, after he sold Mojang to Microsoft. To say that Notch is in any way responsible for Minecraft getting into Smash would be beyond stupidity.

Memes aside, what exactly did Notch do to piss the Twitterati off? I avoid places like Twitter and Tumblr like the plague, yet I hear lots of negative things about him. Considering how much the truth actually matters to them, I have a feeling 90% of what they say is complete bullshit. The most I've heard from a friend of mine is that he told a feminist to shut up.

It’s 100% because Notch doesn’t drink the lefty kool-aid on Twitter. He’s gone from making fun of women to laughing at trannies. That obviously riles up the wokies but I think what makes wokies seethe the most is Notch has way too much “fuck you” money where he can never be effectively cancelled. The most they’ve done is more or less remove references of Notch from MineCraft.

This is correct. Notch was supposed to be a top-tier tool that they could use to browbeat the ignorant and get their way. Notch did not want to play their game and wasn't even that inclined to work against them.

But he would not play ball so he had to be utterly destroyed.

Microsoft made them remove the splash text referencing Notch. He's still credited as the original creator in the credits.
