Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

Every day, I find more confirmation of Jonathan Haidt's discovery: conservatives understand liberals more than vice-versa.
It makes sense, why understand the obsolete, except as a hobby? (I'm blaming Whig History as taught in public schools for this one). Conversely conservatives have to understand the Left because their side always gives ground to them eventually (within that narrative).

I think it's more that the left tends to think it understands everything perfectly already. Since they believe they understand conservatives ("They're all just a bunch of stupid moron bigoted hicks that hate everything and vote against their own self-interests") they don't, in their mind, have to actually observe them or think about them or try to understand them. They already know everything.

It's kind of like that super shitty scene they added into the Hitchhiker's Guide movie, where Trillian repeatedly zaps Zaphod with the empathy gun. (Trillian, a character that in the original book was so vapid and shallow that it's debatable if she even had emotions.) When Zaphod takes the gun away from her and prepares to use it to return the favor, she just brushes him off and says "I don't need that to understand you, I'm a woman." And everyone just sort of accepts this as a factual statement. It's a perfect example of that mindset in action... "I already perfectly understand you because I am superior to you, so I don't have to actually try to understand you."

To reference the original saying this all comes back to, it's more like: "Conservatives understand liberals by listening to what liberals are saying. Liberals understand conservatives by listening to what liberals are saying."

As far as I'm concerned, a voluntary vote for someone you would want elected is never a wasted vote. Accurately representing your vote is the only way to see what issues are really important. Even the losing parties matter because they still represent some part of the pie.

They don't care about representation, or even discerning the will of the people. They only care about power: obtaining it, and taking it away from the people they don't like.

You want to see them rage harder, tell them you aren't voting at all as a conscious choice to protest the whole system. People who are obsessed with power can't understand the refusal to exercise it.

From wha this Tweet says, the anti-Covid cocktail Donald Trump used stem cells from aborted fœti, the claim being that undermines the pro-life stances of Donald Trump and his followers.

Even if that were true, Trump's pro-life stance isn't even a core part of him and clearly only took it up to win over the evangelicals. They really do think all Republicans are just like the Religious Right lunatics back in the 90s/2000s.
