Lifelong lib here, and I genuinely don't know whom to vote for. I don't like Trump; I don't really hate him either. I agree with him on a handful of things, but even where I agree with him, I don't like his methods. Most of Biden's record is okay with me, but his record is irrelevant since he won't be calling the shots. And there's no telling how the mob will react to either outcome, so the prospect of either winning fills me with dread.
I also don't talk about this outside of anonymous forums, so I would probably be counted as a likely Biden voter if I'm counted at all. Whatever happens on November 3, it's going to be fucking weird.
Our system here is different. We vote for who we want to represent us in Parliament and the Party that gains the majority of MPs is called by the Head of State to form a Government in her name. So, I've always cast my vote for who I think is best placed to represent me and my constituency at Parliament, irrespective of the Party the serve and run for. I can totally get how you feel, Fren, on not liking the current person in charge though. I had no love for the Tories but voted for them a couple of times as a "fuck you" to the people who say shit like "Well, there's *no* Tory voters in X constituency". Cos if I vote for them there then I know, at least that is patently false.
A vote for Biden is a vote for the agenda I mentioned before though, and it will be completely within the realms of possibility you will get Harris running the Country too. No way i that doddery old fucker going to stay the course and last four years.
That said, I would never tell a person how to vote, ever. How a person votes is between their conscience and the ballot box, and I know personally, in my own life, I love talking to my friends who hold different opinions to me. I would rather a person be the opposite of me politically speaking, so long as how they vote is what they genuinely feel is best, they have really considered it and thought on it. The worst thing in an electorate is those cretins who vote how their friends and family do and have for generations, just because they're empty vassals, incapable of having or forming a single original thought for themselves.
It's just a pity that, in current year, the so called tolerant left are so incapable of reciprocating the sentiment, I think. People have, somewhere, lost the ability to take it on the gosh darn chin when a person fells or think differently to them and we all, as a society and a species, lose when we find ourselves in this position. Personally, I feel like I have learned more from reading stuff on this thread I have disagreed with than I have in my whole lifetime of engaging as a member of the electorate.
Edited to say: If anyone feels like it all fucking sucks (and it does, let's face it) and they fancy Something Nice to watch, I wholeheartedly recommend looking up either Norwegian Slow TV train rides, or Kyle The Rooster on YT. KTR is a channel run by a gent who has a smallholding in the USA with lots of birds, like geese, ducks, chooks and guinea fowl, but they all have normal person names like Scarlett, Steve, Kyle, and Juarez and it's just wonderful to watch. And the train rides are nice tow atch and see, especially the LLOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGG ones that start at the crack of dawn in a city and end up past the arctic circle as the sun is setting, Personally, I find the background noise very soothing, a bit like the ones of people walking about Japan Dear Leader shared recently.
