I still see the riots as being a sublimated expression of frustration about the covid lockdowns.
Since these people intellectually believe that more lockdowns are good and easing up on them is callous and evil, their own frustration and resentment at them creates cognitive dissonance that they don't know how to acknowledge. So they generate circumstances to "justify" ignoring safety protocols by imagining a threat "bigger" than covid, allowing them to indulge themselves while retaining their sense of moral superiority. That's why the validity or lack thereof in cases of police brutality has never mattered; that's why facts and statistics and all the pandering hasn't extinguished it. Deep down, whether they know it or not, this has nothing to do with the causes they claim to fight for.
Then this is picked up on by opportunists, grifters, self-hating wypipo and anarkiddies wanting to stick to their dad, who ride the train into the sunset. Then politicians see it and start trying to make it work to their ends. But I still, really, deep down believe that all of this is just the Left's cope for hating the lockdowns as much as any anti-masker but not being able to say it.
Maybe I'm being woefully naive and it's all some coordinated deep state insurrection, but I generally think people are dumb and don't like being honest with themselves, and I think that's what's happening writ large with these protests.
EDIT: Which is to say, all of this will continue, no matter how the election goes or what concessions are made, all the way up until they start facing real consequences or life returns to normal. So, keep your seatbelts on lol
Personally I'd disagree but it's certainly nice to see another take on things. I am of the opinion that there's been an ongoing war against the status quo - white, working, 2.3 kids, mother and father - for a very long time, and there's boundless evidence of this, starting with the unquestioning distribution of benefits to women who intentionally choose to become single parents, the refusal to force, by hook or crook, men to pay properly for the babies they shoot into women, and aided and abetted by the notion that historical oppression (which was awful and was horrendous) but that finished literally centuries back, as being carte blanche for a free ride and an excuse to get asspat and free stuff, among other factors.
Schools applaud black kids just for being black, because something happened centuries back (but which, by the way, is still rife throughout Africa as a continent - slavery is still practised, not just in libya as too many leftists will try to concede as a way of appeasing people who point this uncomfortable fact out).
You also have parents who idiotically pursue the two income lifestyle for material goods they really do not need, instead of being thrifty and sensible, who dump their kids in day care from a few months old and believe schools should teach and socialise their children into fully capable adults, which entails teaching them *everything* - morals, decency, how to use money, and unfortunately civics, ethics, world view and how to critically consume (or not) media and detect bias. This factored with participation culture, which teaches all children they can get what they want, all the time and we are *aalllll* winners and the complete refusal of parents to slap their kids with uncomfortable truths because they are too weak, cowardly and snivelling to face tears and tantrums, and the over-patholigization and seeing shit behaviour as a diagnosis, not their kid being a shit and reaching for medication?
That's how this generation of cretins who're rioting have been raised. It is the perfect storm of immature, aggressive, coddled, and being used to using temper tantrums to get their own way, as well as the Internet providing instant news and gratification, coupled with their low IQs and inability to see the meedja whipping them into a frenzy because they're useful idiots, and that's why we are where we are in Current Year.
