Funnily enough, the only time I have ever really get downvoted on here is when I’ve mentioned abusive mothers, I guess people don’t like to think about it but if you spend any time on the Insane Parents of Transgender Kids/Susie Green and Mermaids/Desmond is Amazing/Jazz Jennings threads all the evidence is there. Sure, women are far less likely to beat or sexually abuse their kids, but we can really fuck with our offspring’s heads, even unintentionally.
I think it might even come down to a subconscious smell type thing - female mammals are pretty good at recognising male mammals, even cross species (rescue dogs often end up fearing men but accepting women, and I doubt they are observing make up and clothing choices). Female humans are generally smaller and less strong than male ones, so it’s in our physical survival interests to recognise men.
A man disguised as a woman, wolf in sheep’s clothing style, might even function as particularly alarming trigger of female mammalian instincts.
Add in the evolutionary biology stuff about differences in male/female mate selection (men can potentially have thousands of offspring, where women are generally limited to one pregnancy a year for a third to half of their lifespan) and women are bound to be better attuned to spotting the opposite sex (potential breeding partners) than men are.
Yup. The teeth are often a massive problem in MtF passability. It;s another thing that subconsciously references our mammal status. Men’s skulls are bigger and thicker and so are their teeth. I particularly love photos of troons and their future transwidows - the troon can stoop down to appear shorter in a picture, but it just serves to make the troon’s male head so much more obvious.
