If I wanted to play devil's advocate, perhaps Gavin is aware of his own spastic tendencies and thinks having a gun would just increase the chances of him accidentally shooting himself, or the gun getting taken from him and used against him.

I disagree. RWBY was a fucking disaster made by an auteur creator, who's work style could equally be attributed to an incompetent spod. He worked insanely long hours with outdated software because he didnt want to learn anything new, flew by the seat of his pants to make "cool" things, generally had no overall plan, plot, ece, and worked right up to deadlines with very poor time management skills.

RWBY's "fight" scenes have some interesting choreography, but they are hard to follow, and that sheen of coolness wears off real damn quick when you see how vapid and hollow the show actually is. Much like the new star wars movies, lots of glitter but no substance, and the moment things slow down long enough for you to think you start souring on the product.
