There are various levels of "breaking." Never being introduced to alternative ideas or opinions, or ever being allowed to hear the downsides to say, Marxism or the 1488 clique, does something to people. And all the big sites do it to various degrees -- hell, Google even does it to search results.

It's intentional. They want people to never even consider the drawbacks of say, Mail in Voting, and to overreact negatively to anyone bringing them up.
