I think it depends on how he talked about using the money. I personally don't think he defrauded the donors. In my point of view, subbing or donating to a Twitch streamer is equivalent to getting Netflix or buying a movie on DVD, you're paying for a service. I do imagine a lot of people are giving streamers money because they want to support them personally - pay their rent/bills, make their lives a little more comfortable - but once the streamer gets the money I don't think they have any obligation to use it on specific things.
