Unneeded. In person voting fraud is actually fairly rare. And is usually caught through means other than an I.D. Simply put, it's just not feasible to do it on a large scale.

That's creating an unnecessary hole to abuse. There is no reason not to card people before voting. Either voting is important or it is not. "It doesn't happen too often, probably, who cares."

Imagine doing the same for buying alcohol. You already registered for your license to drink last year, no need to show ID when buying. No one will abuse that, I promise.

It just shows how superficial celebrity progressivism is. Neoconservatism was genuinely bad for the country and led to massive increases in the national debt while failing to resolve issues like immigration. The last president to really fight the deficit was, ironically, Democrat Bill Clinton. People like Ron Paul were calling this out at the time but few were listening. The real difference between celebrity Democrats and the GOP wasn't actually broad views on economics or foreign relations but social wedge issues, which morphed into the 2010s culture wars later. Now people like Bush Jr aren't in charge of the GOP anymore and neoconservatism has been sidelined the animosity has gone because it was artificial to start with.

The whole "Lincoln project" of neocons trying to elect Biden is the best demonstration of this. The GOP moved a bit right on nationalism and they suddenly jumped over to the side of the neoliberals, who only disagreed with them on issues they consider less important. This left the DNC in an awkward position of having everyone from socialists to neocons in the same party, which has caused a lot on internal squabbling as they try to move left and to the centre at once.

He framed it like that, but if I remember right on further reading it was more like he was arguing the chance his polling aggregate, that showed Hillary winning, was right was super high.

Back in 2016 there were some websites that worked on 'unskewing' polls by adjusting them for more accurate party representation, resulting in Trump constantly looking better in one state after another than political commentators liked.

538 even put out a piece denouncing the practice, bizarrely criticizing even the idea that results were weighted by party identification, even though that seems to be included in nearly every poll and you had pollsters defending their oversampling of certain groups with saying they adjusted it for what the actual demographics were.

The basic premise of the unskewers is wrong. Most pollsters don’t weight their results by party self-identification, which polls get by asking a question like “generally speaking, do you usually think of yourself as a….” Party identification is an attitude, not a demographic. There isn’t some national number from the government that tells us how many Democrats and Republicans there are in the country. Some states collect party registration data, but many states do not. Moreover, party registration is not the same thing as party identification. In a state like Kentucky, for example, there are a lot more registered Democrats than registered Republicans, but more voters identified as Republican in the 2014 election exit polls.

Which is a strange argument since it'd mean there's no serious reason to even talk about political party affiliation in regards to polls since most of the data is unknowable to those doing polling.

In that article's case though they criticized a website called longroom.com (now defunct) which turned out to be right about how skewed many of the polls were.
