It shows the intentions of the rioters. If Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are targets of their rampage, it makes it pretty clear that they aren't just going after neo-nazis and white supremacists, they want to tear down the country as a whole. Not to mention that they're allowed to do this without repercussion, where a right winger who graffiti's "all lives matter" over "black lives matter" gets hunted down by police and charged with a hate crime, facing up to 20 years in prison.

It’s not the fact the statue itself has been toppled, it’s the people who are toppling them.

Both of them were carrying their mace in their dominant hand, so they would have to drop the mace to draw their weapon. Things escalated so quickly, maybe it wouldn't have mattered, but it would have been better to keep the mace in their off hand, leaving their dominant hand free to draw.

They threw a firebomb into the Art Museum. They smashed up the Historical Museum. I'm hearing reports that every building in the vicinity has broken windows- that includes about half a dozen historical churches, some concert halls, and a number of businesses and apartment buildings. But I don't know for sure because media is hard to find due to the threats they have put out against streamers.

I may go pay my respects in the next few days as I prepare to find a home in Idaho.

Something about the destruction with only the rain making noise hits me really hard. No alarms or screams or even cars driving by. *Possible unrelated thing but all the critters where I am in the US midwest are acting weird today. I've barely seen any birds except a couple pigeons. Only saw one squirrel. Two of the three stray cats that wander through haven't made an appearance. The animals I actually take responsibility for are acting as though it's evening and time to come in. There were no bees on the zinnias. Who do I blame for this?

by february 2021, Chicago PD will have about 6000 police officers left, anywhere between 2000-2500 officers are set to retire by then, some of them are retiring before they have the years accrued. At the moment, night shift in some parts of chicago have a whopping 3 police cars on patrol, with a majority of officers shifted to protect the mayor's street. Chicago's response is to mandate 12 hour shifts, mandatory ot and limited time off next year.


that said, there's an interesting rumor that the stores on Michigan ave are keep low/no stock until the next year because antifa/blm have told the businesses they're going to fuck shit up until biden becomes president. add to that the fact that the federal governmnt hasn't responded to Chicago's request for help.
