Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Well, they finally released an actual clip.
It's not awful, but it has the tells that this is one of the earliest things they did- The animation in particular looks pretty rough in areas, like with the human animation looking pretty obvious with how the short's animated in Flash. Though I shouldn't be surprised with that- three of the studios credited with animation this time around (Titmouse, Snipple and Yowza) work in Flash/ToonBoom/Animate whatever.

Yeah not gonna lie...… I didn't laugh ONCE.

Okay I know it's just a trailer but it's pretty self-indulgent with the amount of references to Spielberg. It's pretty telling when the show's only selling point is that Spielberg was involved with it. OH I also forgot about Nostalgia.

Also don't you just love it when they say that Animaniacs was part of the GOLDEN Age of Animation. That little detail bothers me. If they just said the golden age of TV animation, I would be contempt with it.

Also I love how excited they are when they said Pinky and the Brain are coming back, but you don't even get to see them in this trailer.

Again I know it's just a trailer, but just from this trailer alone, it's looking meh.

Nathan Ruegger, Skippy Squirrel himself, was pretty indignant about the whole thing and how they never asked any of the writers to come back.

I sympathize with him - he's got every reason to be pissed off, and that's why I'm not going to see this.

(Admittedly, if they parody the show that killed off WB's comedy cartoons as thoroughly as they parodied the one show on Fox Kids that was more popular with them in the original, I might change my mind. But even then I doubt it.)

So Sherri Stone ain't gonna come back then? Why am I not surprised.

Pretty much like the Futurama reboot with the movies and CC seasons, sometimes dead is better.

I've only heard that this reboot is going to have Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, and Pinky and the Brain return. However no other characters are gonna come back, correct?

It's a shame they ain't bringing back Slappy Squirrel. However I am kind of curious as to what new character they will bring up. Something about the old show that bothered me is how many of its characters are forced. There are about a few character worth of anything. Then you have many pointless characters that only existed for just the one-gag horse. It's the complete opposite to how Termite Terrace actually created their cartoon characters. They didn't forced the characters onto to us from the get-go, they created them and see if it tested well with the audiences or not. If that's something that the reboot is going to try to do, I'm all for it.

As I recall, Scratchnsnif and Ralph the Guard are back. Plotz I think got replaced by a female CEO, and Hello Nurse is gone and replaced by a buff pretty boy.

Animaton didn't impress me, nor the humor or should I say the way the writers pat themselves on the back for working in this reboot. Also Spielberg "animated" them? Giving way to much credit here.
That's another thing about this trailer. They are giving Spielberg too much of a boost despite him never even written a single script on the original show (and most likely this reboot). That one line of Spielberg animating them really shows the self-indulgence. They are trying to make Spielberg as if he was Walt Disney who created our childhood.

Technically he was the one who gave the green light, I guess... but remember, in the old show he was a figurehead. He let the writers and directors create the shows they wanted, and that's why we got Animaniacs like we did. (Apparently, he's the reason we had the Flame cartoons on there, though. And why Elmyra got a spinoff with Pinky and the Brain.)

I didn’t know they were that bold enough to make an Animaniacs reboot in this current day. Though, it will probably end up like the Ren & Stimpy reboot that’s coming soon.

There isn't that much hostility against it unlike R&S where everyone just doesn't even want to think about John K any more even if he isn't getting a dime from it. The only real misgivings are the fear that it will almost certainly be disappointing. I'm hoping at least it isn't a clown world product shitting all over the original.

Yeah, I said as much earlier. Slappy isn't gonna be back, to the detriment of the reboot.

That already hints of wokeshit just because Slappy is so violent.

Can't help but note my feelings just happened to be more or less in line with this tweet by Thad Komorowski, the author of "Sick Little Monkeys: The Unauthorized Ren & Stimpy Story"

- Unfunny parody of movie from 25 years ago. check
- Writers sucking Spielberg's cock for level-jumping. check
- Acknowledgement that Pinky and the Brain probably going to be the only funny/good segments. check
Wow, it really is going to be like the old show

Myself, about the only positive comment I can make on the New Animaniacs is that the character designs look a bit sleeker and streamlined compared to the originals, which looked vaguely like something out of a Canadian cartoon production.

By not bringing back any Animaniacs characters besides the Warners and the mice, the producers and Hulu are admitting that all 75 of the other supporting characters sucked shit.

It’s been one of the very few remakes/reboots to actually be pretty damn good.
And INCREDIBLY faithful to the original source material. And I don't just mean to the original Ducktales cartoon, I'm talking about the comics with Scourge McDuck and a little bit of the Saturday Morning cartoons of Disney.
