Virtually everything to do with English history for a start. At this point they've about settled on declaring that whole "British Empire" thing was just a catchy name, indicative of nothing. Which is helped along ably by the eagerness of the #woke crowd to deny that white people have ever been oppressed/enslaved... means they don't really have to answer for what they did to the Scottish and Irish, let alone all the other Europeans they waged war on.

I did notice in history classes growing that the Brits were treated like the noble older brother of America, opposing the big bad Spanish Jesuits or the Germans (both Nahzees and the German Empire, who were not-Nahzees please don't look at JP Morgan pushing for US involvement in WW1 for money's sake because muh Lusitania).

Ultimately it comes back to that whole thing of leftists building their entire identity on being smarter than the opposition. It's why they can never fight the actual enemy, only the strawman version they've all collectively built up in their heads. They think they're so much smarter than Christians, so obviously Christians must be easy to manipulate and trick. Throw in that they really, seriously believe "As an atheist I have a better understanding of Christianity than most Christians do", even though all they know about it is carefully selected bible versus and nutpicked quotes passed around by other haughty atheists, and you've got this recipe for them thinking that they can basically not only decide who's a good Christian and who's not, but that they can easily be treated like an authority on the subject by actual Christians if they just frame things right.

Hilariously it's more of that magical thinking, that belief that if you just use certain words and phrases the right way that you can alter reality. It's the exact same thing with the particularly far-out evangelicals obsessed with the anti-Christ and the Rapture, where specific bible versus and exact words from the pulpit are treated more like mystical incantations from a grimoire than spiritual guidance. Both have the motivation of leading those who are most vulnerable and easy to lead and essentially capturing them to their banner, it's just that the left thinks that this includes everyone.
