I had a whole spergout in the FA thread about Cinderella being a terrible female character that feminists, fat or otherwise, should stop trying to reclaim or rewrite. (I am in no way suggesting Chantal is a feminist. Just processing a lot of Disney/fairy tales being ruined lately.)

Disney's Belle is a bit better-- the story is still fucked up but Belle has a brain and ambitions.

But, tellingly, like Cinderella, Belle also worked her ass off. Running a farm is no fucking joke, She was smarter than her dad when it came to mechanics, and she read and studied constantly, because she was intellectually curious. And despite falling in love with the Beast, she explicitly did not want a man to save her. Unlike Chantal.

I know I'm giving Chantal WAYYY too much credit in her choice of mukbang. I'm just sensitive because I was recently triggered by Cinderella.

Chantal is just doing something based on the outfit she could get, that happens to come from a movie that has a scene with a preternaturally remarkable amount of food. But I don't think we'll be seeing any haute cuisine or es-car-go. It may as well just be "gray stuff." Or meatloaf.

Her lame explanation about how confusing the CoVD restrictions were & continue to be are utter bullshit. Any Ottawa media & national media discussing the situation in Ottawa have been crystal clear, as has every public health official within 100 miles of the place.

Chantal wanted to go to the 2 locations to chow down - end of discussion. I'm not putting all the fault on her shoulders. Peetz's Mom as well as her own family clearly had no intentions of following any strongly worded recommendations from any authority.

It will be interesting to see how she handles her Hallowe'en get together - already a sad prospect with only 2 people besides her & Peetz's supposed to be there. I could see strong temptations to violate social distancing protocols for an important holiday such as Christmas, Easter or any major faith holidays but I'm not aware that Chantal or anyone in her... circle has strong claims to any sort of pagan belief system.

I doubt it's going t happen but as sad as Chantal may try to get us to believe she's feeling, she'll be giddy at the prospect at having all those treats for herself.

I also bet that after doing the dishes, her family settled in to play a board game or watch a movie or something like that. But Chantal had already left during the cleanup so she could hurry home and eat some more. Her waddling around the kitchen and getting in the way wouldn't help with cleanup anyway, so they were probably relieved.
