New York Post got their hands on a hard drive from Hunter Biden's laptop and shows Joe Biden lied about Hunter's dealings with Ukraine

Couple stories on the New York Post

FBI has had the laptop for over a year already and didn't say anything. Remember when Trump got impeached for congratulating the new President of the Ukraine?

What the hell is the FBI doing?

Supposedly there is also a video of him engaged in a "sex act" and a couple of photo's of him. This is one is particular juicy

This just keeps getting worse and worse. I have to wonder how "planned" Facebook and twitters reactions have been. It is now coming across as institutional flailing, where some parts of the company are reacting immediately before other parts have had a chance to catch up. And the impact this flailing is having on American society writ large is nothing short of catastrophic. It cannot be understated that this is the greatest political crisis in America since Kansas asked to become a State. The level of power these companies have is beyond comprehension and they have become clumsy giants in the playground. This power play is completely unmasked and transparent, and it is seethingly authoritarian.

That's legitimately funny. I wonder if the whole Republican party is going to fall into line on this one and engage in some good old-fashioned brinksmanship.
Then it's revealed to actually be a hoax while the Dems laugh all the way to the bank with the Pubs having provably and blatantly fallen for Qanon-tier bait. But that implies they can play 4d chess.

The one baffling thing to me is that Hunter left his e-mails open for anyone to see, without even a "log in" screen to protect him?

If it's not Joe, then Jill will definitely want Hunter's head if he stops her from becoming First Lady because Christ, this guy is an idiot.
He had his email server synced with his laptop, which would have saved a local copy of his entire cache on his hard drive. All the store owner had to do was ckick on the app. This is what did for Weener and the Hildawg. It's a boomer tier mistake, but totally understandable. Most people are complacent and lazy when it comes to data protection, combine that with a methamphetamine/ crack addiction.

The biggest defense companies like twitter have had was by playing off the three primary factions of Republicans off each other. The Populist Republicans have been itching for almost a decade to slap Big Tech with the Big Dick of Government power. The Neocon establishment Republicans by comparison has viewed big tech as a useful work around for pesky things like the 1st Amendment. It's not the government suppressing the plebes, its private enterprise. Meanwhile the Libertarian wing has been blissfully ignorant of what is going on, content to shrug their shoulders and defer to the concept of private business, private issues.

This incident however has really focused all three Republican factions. The Populists are pounding the table and screaming "See! SEE?! We told you morons this would happen!" The libertarians meanwhile have realized the commons have been surrendered without a fight to a hostile political force that is now more then happy to use the commanding heights to break the NAP and infringe individual rights. The Neocon Establishment for it's part has suddenly realized that all the people they were chummy with at the cocktail parties 5 years ago want them dead and their brains are suddenly very focused on survival. Exhibit A, Lindsey Grahm and Ted Cruz.

I've been clowning on Biden for years but I didn't realize he was actually like John Gotti this entire time.

A long time ago, in a dark, smokey room somewhere outside of Alexandria, two men sit in the shadows:

"You're a little light this week Beau."
"I'm sorry Da-...Corn Pop."
"Don't let it happen again."

Will Hunter throw Joe Biden under the bus to save himself if it's revealed he had child porn, or worse, made child porn? Junkies are very good at finding someone to blame, and a sob story about abuse from his father might do the trick, especially if he accusing Biden Sr. of some truly insane shit like killing his brother. His father has about six months, tops, before he's literally too braindead to know who anyone is, and nobody else would be willing to protect him from himself, much less all the people he's possibly jeopardized. He's not just another mouth who could talk, but a timebomb of indiscretion.

If it was a hoax they wouldn't be flailing around censoring sitting Congressmen and one of the largest newspapers in the country. Then again if it was 'just' shady dealings with foreign businesses they wouldn't be going so hard either. People VERY high up in the social media platforms, CEO level, have made the decision to directly interfere in a Presidential election. This is not something that would be left to some junior danger hair. The potential down side from this are enormous for them, but they're doing it anyway.

Usually when shit comes out about Democrats the media goes into gas lighting mode or they go full bore in attacking the credibility of the messenger. We're seeing a little of that but not a lot. Mainly they're panicking. The blue check mark bottom feeders haven't gotten the memo yet, OTOH the senior executives at Twitter and Facebook who have a direct line with the Biden campaign, were ready to go as soon as the story dropped.

So why are they doing this? When ignoring it and quietly throttling the coverage to the right wing ghetto on social media would have been the much better option? Because they know, not guess but know, there's much worse stuff on Hunter's laptop. If the NYP does start dropping pedo related stuff, and there's strong hints they will, we can expect a full bore blackout across the board. As in immediate lifetime bans for anyone who shares or discusses it.

Three weeks ago the senate report stated that Hunter had ties to prostitutes that were victims of a human trafficking ring.

The "other stuff" that needs the FBI's help were likely tied to this.

EDIT: proof

European prostitutes that are human trafficking victims?

Here, let me rephrase that in English: Underage sex slaves.

Now we know why the FBI was called by the computer repair guy. There's probably a video or picture of Hunter railing some 14 year old on the drive.

How likely is this really? Cause honestly the crackpipe pic kinda seals it for me (cause that ain't a shop and where the hell else are you gonna find a pic of Hunter Biden with a crackpipe in his mouth?) I mean apparently NY Post is kind of a rag so the emails could be faked?

What if it's a ruse to bait the Republicans into taking the bait and shitting all over themselves? Jumping the gun on this story might be enough to push Trump out tbh, if they're wrong on this they'll all look like even bigger clowns than the Dems do right now.

It just feels... Too good to be true I suppose? I fucking hope it isn't, I don't think my heart can handle any more plot twists this election cycle.

No. Privileged man children like Hunter Biden will never break with their parents because they rely too much on their parents. There is actually a fascinating psychological meditation on this here. Trumps Dad gave him the tools to be successful. Seed money, an education and connections, but he didnt lift a finger to actually make Trump as successful as he is. And it shows as Donald Trump is "Trump" and not Fred Trump.

Trump has clearly carried this mentality. His sons and daughters are highly capable in their own right and book writers have constantly written about how trump has "scandalously" shut down his childrens shenanigans because they wasted family money. Out of all of these stories, I think the most telling one was the story of Trump, Don Junior and the Bum. It was mentioned on CNN mockingly but it didnt land with me the way it was almost certainly intended to land. At the height of trumps financial difficulties in the late 90s, he and Don Jr. Were walking in New York when Trump spotted a beggar asking for change. The man has a few bucks in coins in his cup. Trump turned to Don Jr. And said to him "you see that Bum? he is richer then me". The point being due the bankruptcy, trump was in debt millions. But that Bum was in the black a few dollars. Thus, the bum was richer then Trump.

CNN probably wanted to make the point that trump was lower than a bum, but what I got from that was that he was a man who was very well aware about just what money was, and just how precarious his class was. And he was determined to make sure his son learned a valuable lesson that nothing is free.

If only Hunter Biden had the same kind of dad Don Jr. has.

Jesus it really probably is CP, isn’t it? Why else would this guy - who probably hadn’t even heard of a “Hunter Biden” before - report it to the FBI immediately? If we’re to believe that the extent of what was on the laptop is what was revealed yesterday, how would a bunch of emails and pictures of a random cracked out boomer signal the repairman to call up the feds?

Just doesn’t make sense. There had to be something super illegal on there that goes beyond what a data repairman would typically come across (I’m sure he’s seen his share of incriminating iCloud photos)

The case of Rudy Giuliani will go down as one of the more perplexing mysteries of our time. Even though the man was a terrible mayor of New York City, he was likely going to be remembered fondly as the guy who actually stepped up and did his job on 9/11. But instead of spending his retirement years sipping martinis and resting on that particular laurel, Giuliani has apparently decided that being a basement-level launderer of Russian disinformation is the best use of his dotage. And all on behalf of Donald Trump, whose guaranteed role in American history will be, at best, as our nation's greatest embarrassment.

I'm reminded of the words of wisdom dropped at the the end of every beer commercial: Drink responsibly.

But Giuliani is failing. Hard. His latest apparent effort to smear former Vice President Joe Biden with false accusations of Ukrainian corruption has imploded, as the narrative has morphed into questions about what kinds of shenanigans Giuliani might be involved with and the legalities thereof rather than anything Biden has done. On the contrary, the story ends up painting Biden in a glowing light, making the current Democratic presidential nominee look incorruptible.

For that, thank the House Democrats for impeaching Trump back in December. If it weren't for the impeachment trial, there's a very good chance that Giuliani's efforts to get the mainstream media to elevate baseless smears against Biden would have worked.

To quickly recap the latest in Giuliani's impotent machinations: Steve Bannon, the former Trump strategist currently indicted on federal money laundering and obstruction charges, tips off the New York Post that the former NYC mayor has had in his possession what they claim are emails from Biden's son, Hunter Biden. Giuliani's story of how he got these emails is, to put it charitably, implausible. He says they were obtained from a computer supposedly left at a Delaware repair shop which the owner then turned over to him, for some reason. Perhaps a likelier explanation, as New York magazine's Jonathan Chait suggests, is that the emails may have been sourced from Russian agents that Giuliani knows.

The emails, which have not been independently verified, purport to show the younger Biden trying to set up a meeting between his father, who was vice president at the time, and executives at a corrupt Ukrainian energy firm, Burisma, where he served on the board of directors. Joe Biden's schedule shows he did not attend such a meeting, and the campaign says the Post didn't ask for comment on that allegation. But this is supposed to be evidence that Joe Biden is corrupt.

There's every reason to be suspicious of this weak attempt at an October surprise. It's important to remember that Trump got impeached because he tried to conjure up false evidence for these same bogus accusations by blackmailing the Ukrainian president into announcing a fraudulent "investigation" into Biden.

Moreover, it's a matter of record that Joe Biden's only involvement with Burisma was working with international authorities to fire a corrupt Ukrainian prosecutor who had failed to investigate Burisma. So even if there was an effort made by Burisma to corrupt Joe Biden, it failed. The emails, even if they're real, just prove he refused to get involved.

And so the efforts to pump this up into a big deal are failing. But without impeachment, there's a very good chance that Giuliani's gambit would have worked as intended, which is to flood baseless insinuations across the mainstream news media, including the New York Times.

These tactics worked in 2016, when Julian Assange and the Russian intelligence community — working with other Trump associates, many of whom were later convicted of crimes — were able to steer endless media attention toward Hillary Clinton's emails. Clinton's emails had nothing of note in them — we did learn she likes "The Good Wife" — but the constant repetition of the words "Clinton" and "emails" by the gullible news media lulled voters into seeing a scandal where none existed.

Giuliani appears to have been laying similar groundwork to smear Biden, starting in May 2019, when he spoke to the New York Times for a widely-criticized article about Biden and Ukraine.

We can see how Giuliani and Trump might have seen this playing out. As I wrote yesterday for Salon, these fake scandals Republicans concoct to smear Democrats work by being too complicated for anyone to follow. Instead, there's a drip-drip-drip of confusing stories filled with buzzwords and noise, all working together to build the illusion of scandal where none exists. The goal is to keep the words "Biden," "Burisma" and "Ukraine" in the headlines so people start to assume there must be something shady going on, even if there's nothing there.

But Trump got outed for his involvement in this conspiracy by a whistleblower who was, rightfully, concerned when he heard Trump blackmailing the Ukranian president into getting involved in the plot, and the impeachment trial followed. Impeachment derailed the scheme by refocusing press attention away from the smears against Biden and towards the real story, which is Trump's corruption. It was a clarifying moment, one that showed the extent of Trump's malicious intentions and exposed the workings of the machinery that exists to inject specious right wing narratives into the mainstream press.

Now every journalist knows that trying to make hay out of this latest stunt only makes you look like a stooge of Trump and Russian intelligence, and so they're staying away. The only outlet that would touch it was the New York Post. Even social media corporations, which have a terrible track record of letting Russian disinformation ops run rampant on their platforms, have gone to great lengths to push back against its spread.

There's a moral here for Democrats: It's worth it to fight back hard, even if there's no immediate payoff.

A lot of folks wonder if impeachment was worth the time and energy because, in the end, the corrupt Republicans who controlled the Senate refused to remove Trump, despite his obvious guilt. But the long-term effects of impeachment have been largely positive for Democrats. Impeachment made it toxic for even the most shameless mainstream journalists to pretend there is any legitimacy to Trump's lies. It made it so that, in these final weeks before the election, the focus is where it belongs: On Trump's corruption and failures, not on some made-up nonsense about his opponent.

There are a lot of difficult fights ahead for Democrats, starting with the fight to keep Amy Coney Barrett of the Supreme Court, but also future ones like the fight to save the economy if Biden is elected and the fight to rebalance the courts after years of Republican court-packing. Some of those fights will be hard, if not impossible, to win. But, as impeachment shows, it's worth having the fight anyway, because it often pays off in the long run. Just look at the current headlines at the New York Times.
Terrible mayor? By what metric? certainly not if measured by his predecessor or his two successors.
Such a ridiculous opening statement does prepare one for the bias contained in the following great wall of text.

In this scenario they'd do it to engineer a Streisand effect to ensure that every Republican partisan thinks there must be something to it and jumps on.
