New York Post got their hands on a hard drive from Hunter Biden's laptop and shows Joe Biden lied about Hunter's dealings with Ukraine

Couple stories on the New York Post

FBI has had the laptop for over a year already and didn't say anything. Remember when Trump got impeached for congratulating the new President of the Ukraine?

What the hell is the FBI doing?

Supposedly there is also a video of him engaged in a "sex act" and a couple of photo's of him. This is one is particular juicy

The Democrats and Republicans are basically using this story as an excuse to usher in laws that will basically turn the internet into television when it comes to controlling the populace. The fact younger generations aren't as naive as boomers are when it comes to American propaganda is basically proof of that. I've been predicting for a while that the american government was eventually going to set up it's own firewall that only allows media that benefits their country. Meaning any form of independent or non-governmental outlets including Kiwi Farms, 8kun and 4chan will likely be dismantled entirely unless they were to move their servers into another country. Even then, unions like Europe are basically going to implement their own firewalls as well. Internet Freedom as we know it will likely end up the same way the dinosaurs did. You might as well archive whatever you have from artists, reviewers and what not. Because once Section 230 is gone, all of that stuff will be scrubbed clean off the internet and it will mostly be thanks to the two party system refusing to modernize.

Conservatives are unironically dumb enough to think repealing what is basically the first amendment of the internet will stop the flood of censorship and account suspensions when really, it will basically become illegal for them to criticize politicians at all. Welcome to George Orwell's fantasy, get used to it. Ironically enough, companies like Disney and Microsoft which the Qanon crowd seem to view as satanic are also pushing for Section 230 to be repealed so they can have free reign to sue whoever slanders their corporate decisions. Basically meaning that you either have to blindly shill for monopolies, or risk getting censored off the internet entirely. Meaning no more posts about Bill Gates supposedly being a satantic baby rapist, unless you want Microsoft at your door sending you a class action lawsuit.

You know the absolute best part of this specific event, from a lulz perspective?

Qanon dropped a post a month or so ago about "Hunters becoming the Hunted"

Nobody knew what that meant. People do now. We get more time for Q to be believed by all the Qooomers in the world now because Hunter Biden couldn't pay $85 for a laptop.

Just in time for Twitterbook to ban all discussion of Qanon.

Well guys, Jersh is calling it: this it the one that will end Section 230. What Russell Greer, the Mountain Jews, and all the CIA niggers in the world couldn't do, Twitter did by censoring a stupid story about Joe Biden's son.

It's been an honor, boys.
No offence Jersh, but that is fucking retarded. How, exactly, is putting in protections so that major internet platforms cannot throw people off on a whim going to ruin your shitposting gossip website where pretty much anyone can post anything unless it is illegal?

I understand if they deleted 230 it would cause serious issues on this webzone. But it wouldn't solve their problems either. In fact, completely removing 230 would make their problems worse. Reform is what they want but saying that isn't as catchy.

They, in theory, want social media to be more like it is here if they want to accomplish their stated goals. It is only reasonable to expect them to make any reform so's the internet work more like it does here than it does in the arbitrarily moderated it-is-hate-speech-when-we-feel-like-it zones. At the very least for the big players who control access to the town square.

Like it or not but the sensibilities of the old SA moderation team runs the internet now and it is going to get worse. Something has to change. We don't like having to pay 10bux everytime we want to troll and shitpost and say Ozma is fat and generally go against the flow.

Despite its self-proclaimed progressive agenda and claiming to be for social justice, it's pretty obvious Twitter and Facebook are only doing this so as to satisfy the rabid demands of the American social justice mob, whose concerns about social justice largely end at their own borders.
>implying the employees of Twitter and Facebook aren't part of the American social justice mob themselves

Oh lol no mention of joe bidens lolcow son's crack smoking pics being leaked for 2 days and twitter and Facebook going full censorship until section 230 is mentioned.
Hey dipshit, the democrats you're indirectly simping for are huge proponents of censorship and especially want to be rid of sites like this. As funny as it'd be to see you stand trial for "making trannies kill themselves" it'd suck for everyone.

Sorry the terrible policy of complete immunity for internet hosts can't last forever. Maybe you all shouldn't have so flagrantly abused it.

And the first amendment is the first amendment for the internet.

Why is this 'blocked tweets' function restricted to the US election? I understand that Twitter primarily cares about its American userbase whenever it whines loud enough, but such a feature would legitimately be useful in other parts of the world in regards to preventing mob violence.

The Rwandan Genocide, for example, was spurred on by the spreading of false information via radio broadcasters. The Sri Lankan civil war had its beginnings in a major pogrom that was instigated by untrue rumours.

They don't even extend this to the New Zealand election, which has just entered its voting phase after weeks of campaigning. So much for the 'Christchurch Call' being a 'step in the right direction'.

Despite its self-proclaimed progressive agenda and claiming to be for social justice, it's pretty obvious Twitter and Facebook are only doing this so as to satisfy the rabid demands of the American social justice mob, whose concerns about social justice largely end at their own borders.
Because democrats want to win and the problem with the last election was in their estimation, not enough censorship.

Both. By pressuring people you know you are also interfering, the only difference is the scale. Democracy works on the assumption that voters are informed but that's obviously stupid especially in the era of mass psychosis caused by post-truth. Society has to have a source of truth, things are going to boil to the point where people will kill each other to establish a source of truth.

No it's not literally interfering per se with the election especially not for those whose mind wouldn't have been changed with this piece of news, but it is political interference in football terms and they deserved to be called out on it.

The main problem is that you're relying on a bunch of boomers with (at best) questionable understanding of the nuances involved to make reforms that don't affect sites like this in the process, inadvertently or otherwise. I can't say I have that level of faith in them to do so.

TLDR: The story, meh nothing much would have been swept under the rug in less than a day, the reaction too it, heavy handed censorship

Edit: shows the flaws of 230, if companies censor everything but the truth they face no repercussions.

That's basically the world we're in already. Anything that doesn't shill for the approved truth is deleted, shunned and oppressed until it ends up in some random echo-chamber corner of the internet. Sure, it's nice to have some other weirdos to chat with online, but at the end of the day it's inconsequential. Your sacred "younger generations" don't trust America not because they're wise to the ways of propaganda, but because they've lived their entire lives plugged directly into the machine of Chinese/Globalist propaganda telling them to hate America.
