Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Can you find a fun distillery tour in Tennessee for me, too? LMK.

k.thx
I don't speak millennial idiot.

He just openly admitted to everything I said. He's proud of it.

Anyone who was CG before Fatboy showed up should be completely disgusted by this. He has NOTHING in common with the people who founded this movement. It's just a giant cash grab for him now, and he's laughing at all the people he used and abused on the way to the bank.

OPENLY. There is no comicsgate anymore. There is only Ethan's bank account and the dummies who put money in it.
He was being sarcastic, retard.

Ah that's the kind of toxic bile that I expect.

Randomly stumbled upon this person a while ago named Larime Taylor, a disabled artist who draws generally decent caricatures with his mouth

But sadly he's just another crazy SJW, who apparently identifies as Non-Binary

He also apparently had a run in with Las Vegas police a while ago: https://www.reviewjournal.com/local...-las-vegas-street-artist-judge-rules-1890347/

Comics will break your heart, kid, Pt 1,000,000

Terrific Productions sounds like a slavery ring.

Andrew Rev--the "boss"--is forcing artists & writers to renegotiate their contracts, which is nothing new dealing with guys eager to be published for the first time, but he's found a unique way to adapt in the face of the chinavirus:

It all sounds like a comics version of Epstein's Island (without the sex, one hopes)--exploiting naive foreigners for profit.

FWIW, Rob Liefeld gets to say, "I told you so"

So Zack's indiegogo just ended without any noticeable fanfare: $87K raised with ~1.7K backers. Absolutely nothing to sneer at but I don't know why refuses to do any sort of advertising besides shoutouts to the exact same 4-10K viewers he gets every video. Going to an EVS stream or God forbid doing his own any sort of regular stream would do him wonders, hell he could do a weekly stream reviewing all the new stuff live. It's like he purposefully goes against himself.

He showed up for three livestreams on my channel to promote this book, and I think it got things moving for IMPOSSIBLE STARS.

Also, he left it In Demand, which virtually guarantees that it'll get to $100K within a month or two. I'll keep promoting it, personally. All of his projects need to hit six figures just for the sake of optics. Mine too.

The thing about Zack is that he doesn't want to show up for a QVC livestream with no particular topic. I think he's tried to do that, and he just gets bored and leaves. He shows up when he's got something to say. He'll have a tweet from a mainstream pro that he wants to take apart, or a news article...something like that. If he's got a head of steam about something, he'll do a livestream with me. If it coincides with a campaign he's got running, all the better.

Too many CGers just do these aimless shill streams without entertaining subjects.

He fucked up the launch with his stupid cover concept as the initial thumbnail.

I agree, boring stuff. But for him to struggle to crack six figures with Frog all but dragging him over the finish line is bad.

Especially since he's decided to try to be Keyfabe lite.

Speaking of!

Around CG!

For you, my fellow kiwis, I forced myself to look at the simp formerly known as Richard Meyers YT.

Simpy has struggled to find energy to actual provide quality reviews.

For example, he noted Tom King's Rorschach #1 wasn't bad (it was, typical Tom King dialogue). four minutes.

But hey, fellow cool cats. Want to hear a fourteen minute video about a New Mutant's annual from thirty years ago made by someone who had no involvement in making it!

For comparisons, both Keyfabe and Simpy put out reviews at the same time. Simpy of something new, Keyfabe a retro one.

Keyfabe at 427 views

Simpy at 2.3 thousand

Hmmmm.

The absolute nadir of it all has to be that he's excited for Future State, unironically.

Yep, I feel comfortable in writing him off and stopping listening to his crap.

Speaking of DC's stupid diversity lineup with Hollywood grievance stack hires, @FROG had a livestream on the topic!

He isn't enthused.

Herald me, for I suffered through this one. Surprisingly it was pretty good.

-In Frog fashion, he doesn't actually start with the subject. twenty five minutes of peacocking over his very impressive success.

-he conveys what sounds like general sadness at the DC Future State.

-He expresses frustration that DC kept Babs in her chair for so long. Hey, bad opinions happen.

-Mostly, he seems to agree with Dan Didio that these are icons. He goes through the terrible characters. Gay, ambiguously ethnic people without personality mostly. Then says he's not picking it up and if you like it, its on you to buy it.

-He makes a dig at these being 'miniseries'.

-The DC talk ends at 1:02. So 45 minutes on the actual topic.

-The remained is big names dropped Simpy and Frog and he's happy about that.

- The CG cancel culture rears its head, as the issue of Miller's book with Shad comes up. One brave person commits to buying something from someone who hurts his feelings. Frog has no clue. Our noble Mister Dongs throws out some tasty bait.

-Frog indicates that Bill Willingham is coming out, as CG.

Trump Flavored Anime Tiddies (The Sequel) has almost 500 more backers with 13 hours to go, but is well behind ($20K-ish) YBZ in what I consider the most important metric, money raised. Anyone care to take a stab at the more backers/less money dichotomy we're seeing in this particular horse race? Any significance for the future?

I wonder how much that bitch who stole $10 grand from him has to do with this?

Coomercore stuff usually sell pretty well no matter the medium (and that campaign in particular is really shameless, not that I am a puritan but even I found it a bit too much) and if you compare it with the first issue it has twice the backers and three times the money raised.

He's also been really shitty at talking about the books he's currently making on his videos regularly as of late. He can't be fucked to talk about or be clear with them anymore. It also really doesn't help that his last few books are all current year topical horseshit I don't want to read.

You know, I'm not surprised Ethan cried about some woman getting retweeted, til I remembered she ask politely to get a refund from Ethan in private... Of course Ethan threw a fit about it. He still does to this day. What an obsessive sick individual. Oh, wait... That's how the hive brain works and will be. Sorry.

@NasserRabadi13 good news, @Fathead is getting an extra paycheck off of CGUK by doing 2 covers on Charlie's London's comic book, so he could possibly payback that amount of money he took out the pot of Brutus.

Nah just kidding if you see any money you'll be lucky, but I like the CGUK guys and Mary Boys is probably the best CG book [I have read] out there and Charlie does a mean @COMMI3 MARK impression.

So here's a link to the campaign

Why yes I am drunk

This is from many months ago, but apparently Jay Lender, a guy who wrote Spongebob's most famous episodes like Graveyard Shift and Just One Bite, turns out to be Anti-Comicsgate, which makes sense considering he's close friends with Micah Ian Wright, the Antifa supporting, Communist comic book writer who in my opinion, deserves his own thread.
What more can you tell me about Micah Ian Wright? He has an impressive resume working as a writer for such companies as Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers, Wildstorm, Midway Australia, THQ, 2K Games/Take 2 Interactive, Riot Games, Activision, Ubisoft and Treyarch. It appears he works mostly in the field of video games and television working on something called "First Nations Experience", what is his relation to comics and comicsgate?

His twitter is fresh too, the old one was suspended so it's likely he had a tard fit at one point. You've peaked my interest but you've got to give me more, what makes this guy worthy of his own thread?

I think Tim is well positioned for future crowdfunds as his campaigns have experienced a rapid growth since the declines after Trump Space Force and the transcript saga. Some key points below:

- The first Kamen America made $20,045 from 1,023 backers on Kickstarter and a further $18,765 from 1,613 backers on Indiegogo. The combined total for both campaigns was $38,810 from 2,636 backers.

- The first Kamen America offered a 56 page book for $10 physical or a $5 digital. This gives a price per page of 0.18 which is pretty good value and the average backer contributions on both platforms were $19.59 (KS) and $11.63 (IGG).

- Kamen America 1 replaced Trump Space Force as Tim's most backed book which had 1,605 backers but raised $72,517.

- Kamen America 2 (with 3 hours remaining) has raised $64,869 from 2,134 backers and will now replace Kamen America as his most backed book. I expect Tim will launch KA2 on Indiegogo at some point too.

- Kamen America 2 offers a 64 page book for $10 physical or a $5 digital. This gives a price per page of 0.16 cents again which is good value and the average backer contribution is currently $30.40.

Impossible Stars has raised $89,242 from 1,706 backers and offers a 60 page book for $25. It has a price per page of 0.42, which is pretty steep and the average backer contribution was $52.31. Impossible Stars has outraised Kamen America monetarily, however the book is $15 more expensive for roughly the same page count. It's important to note that Impossible Stars has currently failed Zack's own standards for success, after he previously stated that any book with under 2000 backers he considered to be a failure. Since Impossible Stars has entered indemand, it's probable that eventually it will cross the 2000 backer finish line and Zack can breathe a sigh of relief.

As it stands now Impossible Stars is Zack's least backed project, with less total current backers than Pandemic and The Ballad of No. I think the poor performance is due to a variety of factors.

1. Competition. Back during 2018 and 2019 there wasn't really much competition for most of the Comicsgate crowdfunders, now it seems that there is a new book every week whether from Comicsgate creators themselves or projects like BRZKR and Nocturnal by Scott Synder.

2. Comparison. Impossible Stars looks to be a terrible option for backers compared to other campaigns. The price per page is outrageous, the art amateurish, the cover uninspired and a lack of backer incentive. If we compared Rekt Planet and Impossible Stars, Ethan offers extra comics, trading cards and a PVC Cyberfrog toy all for $25 while Zack offers nothing but the book.

3. Lack of Engagement. Zack has ceased livestreaming and now relies on appearances on Ethan's channel to promote his books. Most newer Comicsgaters don't even know who the guy is. When Liam Gray was at the height of his popularity there were dozens of viewers in the chat who didn't even know who Zack was or why he was important.

4. Previous Poor Products. The secret is basically out that Zack's writing isn't really all that great, especially since he talked such big game for years. Lost Souls was okay, Iron Sights was pretty terrible and Godking was a fucking mess. I haven't read Iron Sights 2 yet but I've heard from people who enjoyed the first one that the sequel wasn't as great, if that's even possible.

Then you have stuff like this:

This is from Pandemic, the perspective points were left in this panel and were exported to the final product. This comes from dannphan's review of Pandemic below:

And Zack's response?

You'll notice Zack's biggest problem in the comment, he's not only the writer but also the editor of his own books.
Vox Day, along with Owen Benjamin, raped Patreon in court. You've managed to...what, exactly?
Teddy Spaghetti also successfully sued Indiegogo and got them to settle after they violated their own Terms of Service by cancelling his Alt Hero Q campaign after it had successfully funded. I'm certainly not defending the guy but when it comes to taking the fight to the establishment, he certainly has an impact.
