Closed Species - Pay $500 to draw a bedazzled fox

The artist of that one turns out to be a decent designer on their own recent migyan.

Something tells me they just farted out a mig design without thought for sale. "I don't want to get attached and must create the blandest character for sale", I feel.

Yeah I believe the $20 mignyan was just made to test out the raffle bot in the server so it was probably made pretty quickly, and isn't going to be the same level as future adopts.

Hopefully, honestly if they keep doing a more creepy desaturated theme going on with only the occasionally cutesy shit they could find themselves making a nice niche in the closed species market since most are already overly cute. They could also take more body horror elements from The Thing since that was the inspiration behind the species itself and look at the old and new movie for ideas.

the problem with that is that unless you're an idolized artist, it runs a great risk not selling when you deviate from the norm
it's a slippery slope of risk vs reward, especially if you want to profit
if they don't care about profit, they can run the slower game of targeting nicher audience and potentially selling slower

actual gore and creepy subjects have never been a big hit with these things, only implied/ vanilla/ cutesy

Imma just leave this here. This fella sold for $600 (Archive). On one hand, I appreciate that it's not the same old sparkledog or catboy/girl but also what the fuck, that's disgusting. I honestly don't see the new owner using it for anything other than clout points (or trade fodder).

For those of you who don't know, this is a "Grem". They're a premium species, i.e. everyone is willing to pay out of the ass for one.

(Edit: image wasn't working)

I kind of like it, actually. It's like a sand monster that drags people in. Too bad they're not going to use it for anything worthwhile. I can totally see this being in some kind of horror novel or game.

"-AND THE FEMBOY IN SOCKS IS SOLD FOR ONE-MILLION DOLLARS"
Listen, this may be a joke, but I would sincerely watch Texas style auctions where closed species are sold to furry degenerates and e-crazy cat ladies. Especially if they were in the vain of the Brain Swords of York incident.
dainties come easily to mind with this.
considering it did start as a fetish-y species and became more and more family friendly.

There’s this closed species called sakuramimi and what do you know, it’s like every fucking kemonomimi species out there. Here’s the catch, though. It’s literally kemonomimis with fucking cherry blossom petals in their ears.
From what I’ve seen, this species have a rather medium fan base too, and there are people willing to pay any amount of real money for this uncreative CS.

Look at that fucking petals in those ears

A “sakuramimi” adopt. It is literally a generic anime girl with flowers on her head.

Those look less like petals and more like scales. The creator tried, but perhaps a cherry blossom pattern printed on the ear in different ways would look nicer (and be less taxing on the old drawing arm).

Isn't selling a Sakuramimi with Pokémon features technically illegal? Most Pokémon species I assume have some sort of copyright to them. Not going to lie, a sakura-themed Sylveon x Leafeon fusion might be very cute, but still.

many artists just don't care and do it anyway. there are tons of designs or "adopts" based on species from existing media, pokemon being one of the most popular to do this. artists just don't care since nintendo and gamefreak wouldn't come after some idiot on the internet over a shitty closed species.
