Marvel Cinematic Universe

I've actually been playing that remake the past few weeks...and honestly..WC3 was overrated as fuck by all of us back in the day.

Probably. Blizzard did what Blizzard always does: They took established ideas, put their spin on them and polished the whole thing up. But unlike something like Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm or Diablo 3 it wasn't dumbed down.

Not even that for me, there are some..very bad choices in the game. Like the "Upkeep" stuff..the very low unit limits and..there are some not great choices for the difficulty scaling. The last mission for the first Undead Campaign is straight BS on hard.

I will contend that HOTS is incredibly under-rated though, League and Dota are "Fine" but I rather like that HOTS has a variety of maps with different objectives on them, and the party wide xp means that teams don't have to jump through the hoops of getting "last hits" for their support characters to gain levels.

Ms Marvel has been cast.

Newcomer Iman Vellani. I'm glad she's the right age. Was worried they would age her up.

Same. It also seems they'll be doing the "street level" Kamala (a lot of the casting is for her neighbors and classmates) which will be good, instead of Carol's sidekick/"Champions" Kamala, which is Mary Sue dogshit.

I've seen enough of that character that this kid has the right look for it. Doesn't she pal around with Miles Morales in the comics?

They're working on casting him soon I bet.

In some of the (bad) comics, she essentially takes on a guidance counselor/"team mom" (who is the exact same age/younger) role that doesn't actually align too well with her solo run personality. Ideally they save that team up horseshit for much further down the line and let her establish properly.

EXCLUSIVE: Xochitl Gomez is going from The Baby-Sitters Club to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We are hearing that Gomez has joined the cast of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, in which Benedict Cumberbatch returns to reprise the title role with Sam Raimi taking over directing duties.
Marvel had no comment.
Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor also are expected to reprise their roles from the original film as, respectively, fellow sorcerer Wong and Strange’s compatriot-turned-nemesis Karl Mordo. And Elizabeth Olsen has been tapped to reprise her role as Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, for a storyline that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has said will link up with her Disney Plus series WandaVision that debuts in December.

Plot details and Gomez’s character are unknown at this time. Production will begin after Cumberbatch finishes filming on the next Spider-Man pic, where Cumberbatch also will be playing Doctor Strange.
Raimi replaces original director Scott Derrickson, who departed the project in January due to creative differences. Derrickson remains as an executive producer. Raimi, meanwhile, will need to get up to speed before the film’s scheduled production start date in May.
This would mark Gomez’s firs role in a studio tentpole after landing one of the leads in Netflix’s reboot of the classic book series The Baby-Sitter’s Club. Other credits include Roped and Shadow Wolves. She is repped by Savage Agency.

.. or did they? Read the article. They don't actually specify she's Chavez, people just assume she is based on rumblings from ayear ago that America would be added into the movie; which was again based off nothing.

But hey Twitter must be stoked yeah? Well about that...

I dunno, I thought this moment in Champions was really cute.

The sooner the MCU finally crashes and burns (or at least burns itself out), the better.

I'm hoping Eternals will massively bomb and if Dr. Strange 2 or Lady Thor bombs too, then the MCU will at last be dead and pop culture will be richer for having lost it.

The problem is, what do you replace it with? Even if it bombs, people will still try to make a Cinematic Universe, it's too profitable not to. Hollywood is creatively fucked so even if Eternals bombs, I won't hold my breath.

If you think the movie version of soap operas are going to die out when there's not even any other fad to replace them with you get infinite :optimistic: ratings. They'll eventually push their ultrawoke stuff to the point where certain movies crash and burn, but it's a multi-billion dollar industry. They'll just cull what fails and kick out anyone and anything they deem responsible, and then people will continue to watch the movies regardless, because it's the highest budget soap opera in history, and literal trash single camera soap operas last 50-70 years. At best one day they might overcome the MCU/DC movies with some other genre following the same cinematic universe soap opera style, but it's not as if they'll be any better just because someone gets the bright idea to make a cop drama cinematic universe instead of a cop drama tv show.

In what world is a hispanic girl white? There's more than white, black and dot indian in the world. How do these woke people not get devoured by the very 'pocs' they pretend to champion when they do stuff like this?

I've been reading tweets because though I'm not familiar with Chavez, I just assumed she actually was "Afro-Latina". Surprise surprise, it seems the character was never at any point described as having black ancestry, she's just a dark skinned Latina (well alien but whatever you know what I''m getting at) and retards are just reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeing that their headcannon for the character wasn't made legit.

So you know more of the same.

Why would you care? Phases in the movie industry come and go in waves, capeshit falls something else is coming. Fagternals lands with a thud and Fast and Furious Goes to Mars cracks another billion, you'll see more of those. Simple as that.
I guess I'm a massive fag for liking movies and wanting more good ones to be made in a category called "Multimedia". In all seriousness, I'm not talking about capeshit, but rather what the next big thing will be since I can't find the answer because all the creative minds working today are unoriginal hacks.

Just because hollywood would make something other than capeshit doesn't mean it won't still be shit.
That's a guaranteee. The only way anything of quality will come out of the film industry nowadays is if it's a low budget film that studios won't care much to interfere in, or California burns down. The latter of which is looking to be a literal possibility each passing year.

I don't know if you realize, but stuff like Twister and Independence Day weren't exactly high art. Every enormous blockbuster that built the motion picture industry, barring the odd surprise like a T2 or something, is generally quite shit specifically designed to entice the broad consensus. Half the jokes from The Critic, aired in 1994, was about "modern movies dumb!". You're not really dropping the hottest take.

Maybe, but I just want capeshit to fucking die.

The MCU finally crashing and burning wouldn't fix all of Hollywood's problems, but it'd be a nice start and it could level the playing field somewhat by wounding Disney and getting Hollywood as a whole to finally drop capeshit like they dropped Westerns

Agreed, but I actually liked a lot of the blockbusters of previous years.

Unlike the 2010's where the blockbusters seem to be nothing but capeshit and woke reboots of older stuff from the 80's (with a few very rare exceptions) the blockbusters of the 80's/90's/2000's had a lot more variety in their subject matter.

Like, you had a small capeshit boom in the 2000's (X-Men, Dark Knight, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies) but it wasn't as overbearing as the MCU and definitely not as formulaic by comparison.

Then again, I also unironically like a lot of the low-budget grindhouse B-Movies too. So make of that what you will.

It's not a hot take. Pretty much everyone on this site will agree that the quality of blockbuster movies started to decline after the early 90s. The MCU was good at first, before every movie started to imitate the Joss Whedon formula. But say what you will about Twister or Independence Day, at least they were trying to be original. The MCU and modern franchises can't even do that. They have to scrape the bottom of the barrel of a source material that in many cases is better than what they want to adapt.
