The Hollywood God stuff is 100% a PPP passion project and it hasn't been presented well enough for me to get into. I think it would've been more digestible of Godwinson or somebody else edited the documentary. The Ronnie Ralph video had a lot of pacing issues in the editing too. Both go to show how inexperienced Ashton is with "produced" content.

I thought Hollywood God was a standard manchild with a youtube channel and too much time spent on children's entertainment, so I didn't care about him. But PPP's documentary on him showed that he's actually some kind of schizo poster who has random outbursts over trivial nonsense because he is plain crazy.
You can't highlight craziness, you have to show the whole thing or it doesn't seem real.
It did take me 3 days to finish the video though, it was very long, and I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing.

This is the biggest problem with PPP's content. Its amateurish rambling style is what makes it appealing, but it also requires that there be little to no actual editing done in order to truly live up to the amateur style.

there are some clips i think he was right to show in their entirety, the religion stuff and the world express expose for example needed to be shown, there was just way too many unedited clips though, including long interjections of a podcast talking about hollywood god. the details and the info are extensive and if you can ignore the flaws it does showcase an interesting individual with numerous episodes of insanity and basic ineptitude, showing him in black face for the whole clip is a good call, showing an entire rant about watchmen without explaining why the clip is so crazy (something you can easily miss without that context passing it off as an avgn channel awesome vibe) is a very bad call. i zoned out trying to listen to what appeared to just be an ancient manchild podcast breakdown of capes

i dont think its a joke, i initially thought the whole hollywood god thing was a persona that ppp and godwinson created since they mentioned him and had injokes about him during the simpspiracy stuff. then it turned out he was a real guy and that ppp actually watches him, i thought for the first two hours or so that the joke was then that ppp found some banal manchild in the vein of a more tame warcorpse and then built him up as a joke. no i think ppp has the same issue i have where we dont trust people to make inference or we want people to have all the context we care about laid out and force others to trudge through it even if they care about different things and/or the way to reach them is with playing to some things while having others set back out of the way.

I watch most, if not all of PPP's stuff at 1.5x speed and Rekeita's vids at 1.75x or 2x speed.

Makes it a lot easier to get through everything and I have no problems understanding what is being said, despite the faster pace.

I found the doc to be entertaining. Felt you needed some context for someone I really knew nothing about except that PPP put cameos of him in his videos. You put it on when you have some time and it's a fun day's ride, a slow burn that amps up near the end. It has to be tough to chronicle someone's highs and lows that's been putting videos on the Internet for over a decade - especially if they get into drama. I found the context helpful. How do you know what bits really turned someone into who they are? Could it have been broken up or the clips cut shorter? Maybe, but as is it's a pretty complete picture of the guy's online career. Definitely understand the cameos in the PPP vids much better now.

it is after a point, it becomes great just by virtue of the subject being entertaining, the first hour or two or three was a painful blur to me though. you know the trance like state where you need to absorb info but its so boring its painful and your mind is trying to escape and the world around you fades into this dull miasma? like a learning tons of technical ins and outs for a job you have as a stepping stone and dont intent to stay in but have to learn thoroughly, thats what the big barrier is. very poor set up with just dumping you into clips of manchild watchmen hour then explaining it afterward.
