The resemblance is uncanny.
It's even more uncanny if you suffer through
this interview, because it's like listening to Phil's twin brother talk. He even has a sort of "snort" when prompted with certain questions. He does the same sort of tap-dancing around some questions, and makes himself out to be God's gift to tough guys/martial artists (like Phil implies he was the greatest bestest fighting game player ever, except for those 3 zipper-heads that beat his ass at EVO one time). At the very least, Steven Seagal has a documentable sort of history that anyone can look at and say "Yep, he somehow managed to do shit with his life." Phil, on the other hand, has pre-shtreems and unqualified anecdotes.
In short - DSP is a colossal faggot, fraught with autism, and can't separate himself from whatever character he plays as in a video game. If Fall Guys had a stage where each character is vying for the attention of some Fall Girl, he'd just drop out of the game because he has a real adult wife *thumbs toward door* dood, he doesn't need to get the attention of some female in a game. He's just projecting and nay-saying something that he already does, albeit for sweaty dudes in pixelated form.
Because its extremes with Phil.
Its funny he says to people that not everything is black and white yet that is his attitude towards a lot of things.
You're either neutral to characters or wanting to spend every waking moment with some chinese cartoon waifu. You either don't like anime or you're covering every square inch with posters and dolls of your favourite waifu. He's either casually playing games and having fun with his streaming audience or he's commiting adultery by doing a romance side quest.
The screenshots in
@Third_World_Detractor 's post just highlights how out of touch he is, and watching his back and fourth about the subject with stream chat is like trying to explain internet memes to a grandma with a flip phone.
The only times I've ever seen Phil change behavior is when money started being affected by said behavior. He's not doing oversexualised jokes because he's scared he gets perma banned off twitch and/or YouTube if he just said that and carried on people wouldn't annoy him about waifu shit.
Its
because he makes it weird by equating romance quest line with cheating on his wife. That people pester him about it.
Everything is always extremes with Phil. He personifies "If you're not with me, you're against me!" in the worst possible way. It's only when the idea suits his agenda that he takes a different stance on things. Have you ever sort of had a "crush" on a video game character (Jill Valentine, call me) at any point in time? You're an immature idiot, then, because real adult humanoids don't have any feeling one way or another towards digital characters. However, if a bunch of mainstream titles come out where you are FORCED into having some sort of romantic relationship with a character, he'll do 1 of 2 things: 1. Completely drop the game once it gets to that point (or never play it to begin with, because he reads guides and reviews ahead of time...), so he doesn't have to subject himself to such digital depravity, or 2. Rewrite history and say that he's never REALLY been against waifus, but that at the time it wasn't something he looked for in the game, that it was his depression, and he's changed over his years as a khantent creator.
It's not even about the concept of cheating on muh wife *thumbs toward door*, he uses that excuse as a crutch to explain why he doesn't care for those sub-plots in games. It's really just him being lazy and choosing to ignore parts of the game so he can move on to the next one and acquire disability dollars.
