The gist of it is that cover is helping all of their cn branch talent with one of 3 options: They can either go solo, go to another company or graduate.
The decision is in the talent hand, since the rabid "fans" demand it's either coco or them, staying and continue associating with hololive in china seem to be no longer an option. The deadline for them to make a decision is by the end of october.

Why not just simply pull a Nijisanji india and rebrand? Civia and Artia are not in the mainland so giving them the kick would be a waste dont know about the other 4

To an extent; it's been this way since livestreaming has existed. People who make money off of doing it tend to view what they do as a performance anyone can watch but people can throw money at if they're feeling generous and appreciate it a bit more, unless you're an entitled dipshit about it. I mentioned earlier I dropped a decent amount on Calliope because (aside from it being kinda funny) I genuinely enjoy what she does and want to support her work, aside from being generous in general. If I had the money to give a thousand bucks to every content creator I liked I probably would do it, but as it stands I don't; most times I will shell out for physical merchandise because at least then I actually am getting something out of it, even if it's yet another shitty black tshirt to go into my pile of 50 of the things. Not sure about Nijisanji but Hololive is definitely not considered independent contract work. From what little we do know, they are salaried employees of the company. That and in Japan, contract work as an accepted concept doesn't really exist. Cover invests way too much money into these people for them to be labeled as "contractors." As soon as they debut, they're making money. Coco talked about it for a bit, that it took her a while to get monetization enabled on her channel and in the meantime she had to live off the salary Cover gave them for her time. Don't know about you but "contractor" and "salary" don't really go hand-in-hand.They all have family in the mainland, so staying with Cover is not an option. Moving away from China is not an option. The hololive brand is poison in China and they would be better off independent or with another agency. Cover will most likely be transferring intellectual properties like characters and models to the talent so they can continue activities without having to start over, which is the right thing to do, but also means setting some precedent for talent to leave the company while retaining their characters. I see it as a positive thing if it reduces the amount of power the agency has over talent because the business model is built like the idol industry, but worse because an idol agency can't make you give up your first and last name and appearance if you choose to leave. Holo and niji talent are actually independent contractors rather than employees, but the companies hold far more power than is appropriate for a contractor relationship. They shouldn't have their cake and eat it too.

So I like supporting her to show my appreciation of her improvement, but at the same time, her improvement makes me enjoy her shows more. Likewise, Korone works really hard at learning English and reaching out to her fans, but that work also makes her content more enjoyable. I mean, at the extreme end Luna turned her “learning piano” thing into her most popular content. And speaking of Luna, to some extent, C ties back into A as well. At one point, Luna was super unpopular, but once she found her niche, the Lun-Knights are an extremely dedicated fanbase. I tried watching Amelia’s Witcher 3 stream, cause I only just started playing myself a while back, and I love the books so I wanted to see some of her reactions. But the chat is such a shitshow, throwing spoilers everywhere, that trying not to look at it is kind of killing the thing,

And I’ve used my dumb WWE analogy before, but the good thing about Hololive being an ensemble and having a bunch of larger-than-life characters is that (assuming it’s going to catch you at all), you will probably find an easy entry point somewhere, and then can use the frequent crossovers to eventually find the Livers you like best. It’s the real advantage that HL and Niji have over a lot of the smaller vtubers. I believe that Hololive talent are probably independent contractors in the same way that many agency artists and actors are.
