Two ratings. Wow. Also, dem hashtags. Now, I've never played
Hunted, but I do love me some Bethesda games. Unfortunately,
Hunted looks pretty underwhelming. I guess they can't all be
Fallout 3 or
Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim.
. . .Wait a second, did she say "distant ancestor?" Maybe it's this nagging mini-migraine, but something's not right here. How can a recent point-&-click indie game released five years after its namesake be a "distant ancestor?"
I guess I could look up this Brian Fargo guy she's talking about
OH WAIT I GET IT
The
ORIGINAL Demon's Forge is the distant ancestor of
Hunted, okay. & Rani did a reboot of sorts. Okay, I see.
Real fast, let's see what the original looked like.
AWWWWWWW
IT'S SO SHITTY IT'S ADORABLE
I LOVE IT
holy balls is it killing my eyes tho
Okay, now Rani's version:
OW FUCK MY EYES
WHAT IS WITH THIS FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD-GOFFIK-GIRL-ON-MYSPACE COLOR THEME
at least she's staying true to the original with it's, err, vibrant palate.
Also, I love the little 80's chiptunes she's got going on as the background music. Totally adorable. My only beef is that it doesn't quite loop correctly. Ah, well.
I really wish there were instructions, too. Eh, it's a text adventure. How hard could it be?
Okay, on the left bar, we have: eye, hand, mouth, N, & protagonist. Also the protagonist has a box. Looks like a pack of cigarettes.
Anyway, I'm gonna eyeball the guards.
Oh.
Well.
Okay.
What if I speak to the guards?
I JUST WANTED TO TALK TO THEM JESUS
confirmed: Rani has a thing for skellingtins. Also that's a chattery skull GIF.
Also also, I just noticed the symbol on the skull. Does she HAVE to put that stupid little upside-down cross on everything? Just in case you didn't already realize it was a Rani Baker/Destroyed For Comfort Original™.
Yeah, it would've. Except there's a little "Restart" thing I could've just clicked, but okay.
Whoa what did I just
I clicked the N & now there's other letters
oh.
oh wow I am really dumb.
They're directions. GOOD JOB, ME
I AM THE BEST AT GAMES
Okay, well, I wanna go back & see if I can "hand" the guards. Let's head south.
Oops.
OKAY
ONCE MORE, FROM THE TOP
>FONDLE THE GUARDS
well that was fun
anyway
This "entrance foyer" looks like. . .well, a foyer. Who has a foyer in a dungeon?
Let's see what's in my inventory.
Oh. They ARE cigarettes. Huh.
Kinda ruining the fantasy aspect here, Rani.
I'm gonna investigate the robe guy.
Oh. . .kay?
Sorry about picking your pockets, dude.
I can't talk to him for some reason, so I'll now fondle the robe guy.
Oh, it's just a robe. That levitates & takes the form of a person. Alright, then.
Why couldn't she have made this a bit more, well. . .
. . .obvious?
Moving ever onward. Let's go East!
Wait, is it West or East? Whatever. Guess I'll go East again.
In a dungeon.
Alright, whatever.
>CLICK EYEBALL
. . .where?
>CLICK HAND
I OPEN THE CHEST
Okay, now what---oh. I have to click "IN" to actually look in the chest.
>CLICK IN
Oh, okay, cool.
Now what.
Um.
I.
Uh.
I think the game just crashed.
