You are free to knock them over the head, throw them to the curb and stop them along with everybody else you and your ally have previously cast aside.

You see it happening so often, too. Someone who's considered an "ally" gets thrown under the bus the moment their usefulness runs out, or they are seen to be part of "the enemy". An "ally" to these people is nothing but someone they can feel morally justified in betraying as soon as it's convenient. Their allies are the first ones to go to the wall if they get their way.
