I can top that! I've been on the tranny scene for decades now, met, talked with and known several hundred people on the trans "spectrum" - and I can honestly think of very few (if any) who would appreciate the way you handle yourself online. (Not IRL, mind you - there's often a massive gulf between a person's behaviour online and IRL.) But though I can imagine many of these trans people pleading extenuating circumstances and pointing out how you "mean well", I can only imagine one response to your general attitude - one of frozen embarrassment.

Here's what you don't get - so are you. You are one tiny group, one small set of viewpoints - generally americentric, somewhat(or in some cases very) conservative. There is a whole world out there that may very well disagree with both of us.

In terms of the trans community - I interact with trans people more often than most of you here, including most of the other trans people. And I'm not all that fringe or extreme at all. Some trans people I know tend to isolate themselves a bit due to negative experience - I don't do that.

I don't let being trans define me either. I am a great many things beside that, and I rarely bring it up in every day life. But it's still part of me, and there's no point pretending it doesn't significantly affect the life I've lived. I don't believe it's shameful, and I don't believe in apologising for it or sucking up to people who attack people like me.

The difference being we're not shoving our opinions down other peoples throats or telling people how to think or how to talk. We keep ourselves to our forum here and laugh at people acting like fools. There are a few, a FEW, who have actively trolled people who do post here, but most of us just keep to ourselves here on the forum.

And I interact with trans people on a daily basis. I have two very close friends, almost family to me, who are both MTF trans and a coworker who is also MTF. They don't act like you and they don't think like you. You are a minority. The reason you know so many like-minded trans people is because you are part of Tumblr communities and other social groups online that specifically cater to like-minded people. See the distinction there?

I answered dozens of questions even when many of them were blatantly loaded and demeaning as fuck.

Also, just because I saw I'm activist doesn't mean I'm here to reach out to people. My reasons for being here are my own. Research, maybe. It's not an always on thing.

Also I got on pretty well with the people involved in the local Marref campaign. I did question the lack of focus on trans rights in the local queer community, but I've yet to shove anyone away. The only people I tend to shove away these days are geeks that don't know how to deal with me. And their loss quite frankly.
