Never played any of them but I was under the impression Ecco the Dolphin was a well acclaimed game, so that was a bit surprising.

Possible unpopular opinion but I don't think the looks of any of those pre-rendered 3D sprite games have aged well. And I'm including the Genesis ones when I say that so that's not just a fanboy thing

Depends, dkc looks rough on a new tv but on an old tv it looks good, Star Fox looks fucking horrible no matter the tv.

It's a beautiful game, sounds great (especially the SEGA CD version) and certain types of gaming bullshit were more easily forgiven back then

Indeed, it does look really nice, the look of Genesis games is really nostalgic to me as that's what I owned as a kid, even though I played some SNES too (but never owned one)

This is probably pure nostalgia talking but I think Star Fox still has a charming look.

StarFox wasn’t pre-rendered, it was just filled polygons on a system too slow to properly handle them.
Donkey Kong Country always looked like shit, on any TV.

I think DKC still has a groovy look, but it does need at least a scanline filter to make it look less pixelated.

I'm going to agree. I dig the low-poly look (see also the original VF, Virtua Racing, Wing War, S.T.U.N. Runner… that entire era of arcade games was great). But when you actually try to play the original Star Fox… the frame rate does kinda kill it. It's maybe around 15-20 fps. Definitely noticeable compared to what we're used to nowadays.

The source code leaked for Star Fox 1, 2 and 64. So I am just waiting for a source port that runs at 60 and I can use a flight stick.

He talked about the vortex at the beginning being so terrifying, but never showed the freaky aliens? Huh. I guess he's gonna cover a later game and do a "THEY'VE BEEN HERE ALL ALONG!!" bit.

Okay episode, but it's still Zombie AVGN, much like Zombie Simpsons.

Wow, your reading comprehension is utter shit. Are you ESL, or just retarded?
lol calm down

I wonder if he wasn't able to get that far. It is a tough game and I also never got far enough in it to see the really weird shit that I would see once YouTube became a thing.

Probably not, but you can skip ahead to the alien levels with passwords. I think there might be one for the final boss, too, but I'm not sure.

I did skip ahead to the penultimate level and could barely make any progress. He's not joking about the game being that brutal.

This is very common, I was allso surpriced at this the first time i started checkin in with Mega Drive games a bit more deeply. But very much of what one finds when looking into it is that many dont seem to like it at all and its was very overhyped.

James' oversized costume with the cinching of the belt makes it looks like he has two luscious melons. Yum.

(don't do videos in masks, ffs)
When I saw this pop up I was hoping it would be something like his Dracula tier list, kinda disappointed it's just a glorified podcast with Mike Mattei with a cosplay gimmick.

Personally I'd be ok with the end of the Nerd but I'd hope that The horror review keep coming as he obviously loves the hell out of that stuff and its entertaining to watch him yak about it as he has a passion for it.
once James finishes the series, it better end with the Nerd dying of a heart attack while playing Boogie for the wii.

As great of a throwback as that would be, the idea already has a hairline fracture in it ever since he reviewed Life of Black Tiger on PS4.

Another review on some discount Resident Evil.

Huh, that was a really good one. No skits or gimmicks or anything, very back to basics, exactly what made the AVGN good. I also laughed at the Goldberg memory card. Way way better than last year's.
