When James doesn't try to make a joke, I don't necessarily think his passion is gone. For example, when he was talking about the history of Taito - I think he was genuinely interested in that, genuinely finds that cool. But it definitely does seem like he isn't really as keen as annoying himself on bad games anymore - at least, unless there's something remarkable and entertainingly goofy about them. Seems like he had actual fun with that weird shitty vampire RE, whereas the legend of kage and this one are almost entirely boilerplate.

Although it seems like when he plays one of these arcade games that he likes, he feels generally enthusiastic about it. Honestly, given how good the Earthbound review was, maybe he should just take an adult's eye to some of the old classics?

I really don't know of anyone who likes the rest of the crew.

I thought the bread crumb joke was funny cause of how stupid it was but yeah. His strong suit has always been being a surly guide through gaming's history.

Not sure if she counts but I like Mike's girlfriend Erin. She pleasant and plays old games. Doesn't take much for me.

I think both he and the Internet grew out of the old style of the AVGN. When he talks about stuff just normally I could listen to him a lot.
I think the dark age of his content was when he had those absurdly long and obnoxious gags with the mecha jesus etc. Sure, you want to work in Hollywood, but please don't adopt the "let's use SFX because we can" attitude. Gladly he got over that.

Seems like he got a lot of that out of his system with the movie, where the entire final act was a gigantic stream of exactly that kind of thing. I never understood why he always liked that kind of crap.

Considering he likes Godzilla a lot, he must like the camp factor of special effects.

Also, I just noticed a thing with many online creators. They keep adding effort until a point their videos become tedious. Even Youtube poops started to have long stories and boring and drawn out rpg battles just to show off the animation skills of the author.

I guess all gags are funny in their head.

Aside from the animated intro, it's pretty meh IMO. Got a handful of chuckles out of me, though. Also:
