It's like Gopher but with TLS.

Gopher?​

It's a pre-web technology that HTTP has largely replaced.

But why?​

The web is cancer and bloatware. Gopher/Gemini has no CSS, JavaScript.

Maybe later, but you can connect with torsocks for now.

Using gopher for a BBS rubs me the wrong way. I'd use an NNTP server or a mailinglist for a minimalist forum, and then maybe host an archive on a gopher server if I wanted it to be accessible from gopher space.
