As well, i might practise body proportions with these while i can.

What often strikes me in these kinds of artworks is how they draw the legs; they're almost always barely half of the body, they seem so short

No, you're right. The legs are usually too short.
Both parts of the legs should match the height of the torso, though the calf can be slightly shorter. And the foot is supposed to be the same length as the forearm. There are key measurements that are important for human portions to avoid uncanny valley/off looking drawings of people, but that's a whole art sperge.

So a flavour of vaporwave with yami kawaii style via pixels? (I'm not hip with '-core')

That's a pretty interesting style combination, tbh. Genuinely I do hope they do improve on their style and keep going.

Blinding colors are fine when it isn't distracting, like "OHEHMGEE I USED BRIGHT COLORS GUYS ISNT THIS SOO NOSTALGIC GUYS LOOK THIS IS SOO SCENE AND COOL" instead of just putting them there and making it look genuine and it had effort despite that. If that makes any sense.

Well, i did Fuku today. Not a full picture because i'm afraid of the damage i might cause to it with my inexperience but i might say it's fairly passable, but judge for yourselves. Since she's 14 i tried to make her look sweet and jovial. I would have changed the clothes as well but i suck at making clothes.

Feel free to also send it to StrawberryLind and get her input on this matter. I would be quite happy to get some criticism on this, and i really mean it. I might do Charon tomorrow if time allows it and i don't fuck it up completely.
