It still kind of disconcerting where we're seeing all this shady behavior and people are like 'lol biden won, get over it'. This is fraud on a historical scale. I don't care if Biden wins or not. What I do care about is elites hijacking a process so blatantly. Does Trump not being president matter more than our entire election system being this corrupted?
Yes.
Put very simply. Yes. The current crop of "elites" are losing their grip as often happens every 30-40 years or so. The problem is they tried to rig the system so they would be able to continue the transition of handing the global powerhouse keys to China for the once-a-century hegemonic power shift (the last happened in the 1940s from the UK-USA).
There's so many corrupt officials in many places. Most obviously in the Democrats, but also in the Republicans and many levers of government. Trump represented an annoying, disruptive force to them. He's flipped hundreds of court seats and has set up the SCOTUS for a conservative domination for the next 40-50 years. If he got 4 more years, there's absolutely no telling what sort of "damage" he'd have wrought to the carefully laid plans, doubly so with no more fear of another looming presidential election.
They also have seen what happened here in the UK where many of the elites, the media, and the majority of political parties loathed the "disruption" to the neat little map and interests Brexit was bringing and campaigned hard, with all the cacophany of cancelling Brexit, holding the balance of power and demanding second referenda to correct the mistake, but dress it up as "confirmatory".
The result was the public didn't so much as slap them around by relecting a populist Prime Minister, as beat them so bloody it will likely take another decade for them to fix the matter. Ancient "core" territory was shattered and flipped in ways that will have consequences for decades to come.
They simply couldn't, and wouldn't afford that happening in the US.
