That was 1966. Downies were considered not just hopeless, but a shame and a disgrace as well. This wasn't fair and obviously this kid turned out reasonably well but this is yet another case of judging someone from quite a while ago by today's standards. It certainly fell short of perfect but a lot of people would have done exactly the same. By comparison, probably not a single one of the brainless zombabies in this thread would have lived longer than minutes at the time.

Honestly I follow this thread mostly in hope of logging in to find this poor child has been released from her torment on this mortal coil.
I can genuinely understand how heart-wrenching it is to find out the child you are carrying is going to be so riddled with ill health it will die. I think anyone can at least get it's horrible, even if you're of the view "well it's a miracle anyone is born right in first place". Worse if the child was planned from the outset, you know?

I think the thing that creeps me out the most about Sarah in these particular posts is the bit where she talks about how not only are her kids are under constant heavy surveillance, both in real life with home school and online, but that her friends are "curated" by Sarah personally - presumably to weed out the ones that aren’t from like-minded families that might have different opinions on subjects rather than a concern for safety. Like it’s one thing to make sure your kids aren’t hanging out with the offspring of meth addicts or kids who like to start fires or accident ly funding porn or something, but the way she uses the word curated like they put grade school children through an appraisal process to sniff out wrongthink just gives me the creeps. If anything I would think that’s precisely the attitude that causes young girls to either get knocked up in high school because all the regular milquetoast high school dudes are gonna look like James Deans with Wolverine Claws and she’ll have no experience dealing with people outside her mommy’s fundie cult, or she’ll eventually become estranged from her fundie parents because mommy smothered her so much.

Yeah based on what my friends raised by fundies have told me, kids treated like that either getting pregnant (due to being sheltered and given no comprehensive sex ed) or ending up estranged from their parents is extremely common. Hell her goal of wanting her daughter to have no clue what a condom is until at least 12 definitely makes me worry she'll end up in the first camp, because while a 7 year old might not need to know what a condom is, it's a good idea that kids 12+ know at least basic shit about condoms and other contraceptives so they'll hopefully use them when they get horny and some inevitably fuck (like teens have done for as long as humanity has existed no matter what fundies try).
