I think it will to be honest.
Considering the 20 year nostalgia cycle I think you're going to see people bringing back elements of 2000s culture, ie edgy humor, sexy women, stuff like that.
Never forget that all politics aside people just get bored of the same old, same old, Woke had its day in media, but people are going to want something different just for the sake of being different.
A lot of things indicate the wokeness trends are going to go away, actually. Even with a possible Biden Bailout (actually I don't know why this was predicted, most likely bailouts will be for states that locked down hard) the entertainment industry got fucked HARD by Corona-chan and bailout money won't make things go back to normal. Regardless if if going woke or Covid made them go broke they literally can't afford to keep doing what they were doing before all this.
Agreed on this one for all the reasons both of you just mentioned (cue the deluge of rainbows, trash cans, puzzle pieces and other meaningless internet stickers)
Between the inevitable late 90's/2000's nostalgia boom and all the edginess and sexiness that comes with it and that everyone's hurting financially, woke is not viable like it used to be pre-COVID. I think they blew their load with the BLM coup this summer and now that they've got their goal of removing Trump achieved, expect another shift in entertainment media as they repair the damages done by the pandemic so they can maintain their hold more easily
Hell, a backlash against woke culture is going to be a lot more viable if it's also explicitly apolitical and all the "Everything is political" Late Millennial zealots on the Woke Left will be sidelined and ignored now that the big bad Orange Man is gone and they're now an extremely vocal but politically useless and unprofitable group in a Biden/Harris presidency.
Time to get all those normie bucks from people who just want to grill and not have smug pretentious IdPol shoved in their face all the time when they watch their movies and shows or play their games.
Beardos and dangerhairs aren't enough of a demographic to keep you afloat in a post-COVID economy even with the Chinese market taken into account.
And if the conspiracy rumors of a "Great Reset" somehow really are true, then a few years break from the shitshow of 2020 and a seeming return to the normals of the Bush and Obama years will help the bigwigs get closer to that goal for when the next big crisis emerges and they can use the hindsight of 2020 for it.
If they do get away with it they're going to spend the next 4 years making sure it can't happen again, expect worse.
Hard disagree on the entertainment media thanks to the economic meltdowns from COVID-19 hurting the entertainment industry as hard as damn near every other industry. Corona-chan made sure "Get Woke Go Broke" will actually mean something and they won't have the Bad Orange Man to focus all their energy on.
News media will still probably be turbo-woke but the clickbait mills will die out or get absorbed into the big MSM outlets.
Let's hope so because I got the feeling then Woke will stick at Marvel and DC Comics a bit longer.
True, but they've been in decline for a while anyway and have been propped up by the capeshit movie fad which is primed to burst in 2021-2023 just from sheer burnout and bloated budgets
I don't think it's going away anytime soon. Woke is the new secular religion. And after all, there's still all those evil nazis out there that voted for drumpft again so we need to keep watch and keep professing the faith
Disagree, simply because of COVID-19 fucking everything up financially for damn near everyone and now making "Get Woke, Go Broke" actually mean something. With Trump gone and everyone hurting from the Coronavirus lockdowns, they'll want to drift away from woke entertainment and keep it confined to the politics and the news media instead to get more people to consoom again and forget everything.
