General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

welp look like some old kiara stalker followed her to Subaru house, now he been ringing subaru door bell in the middle of her stream
I might be an idiot, but how is this related to Kiara?

do you guys think that becoming a vtuber, whether indie or within an agency, in the next 5 years or so will be a good idea at all?

You'll need history as a content creator to even stand a chance.

I'd go so far as to speculate that Senzawa's brief stint as a VTuber might have been a practice run, or even a way to pad out her resume, before she applied for a spot at Holo.
same goes for Demondice's brief streaming period before she became Calli. Too bad all of her streams are privated now, including the stream where she talks about the development of the Mr Jewel Box MV

How much talent do you have? Can you sing? Are you bilingual or trilingual in high reaching languages? Are you knowledgable in topics that your audience cares about? Are you entretaining without having to rely on being crude or strident or offensive? Do you have natural charisma? Do you have a voice that's pleasing to listen at? Do you handle being talked about okay? Do you want to entretain an audience for a living with your acting talents?

The question is kinda hard to answer, because it will depend on the talents you've got if it's a good idea or not. If you are another average lardy American trying to hussle, I'd say the time has passed.

I can only see 3 years max, if not shorter

Oh, and in a very unrelated (and autistic) news, I guess hololive is big enough that a JAV studio finally use a character's costume for a cosplay porn, and it's unsurprisingly, Fubuki's costume

I wonder how Cover (and/or Fubuki) would react to this

Edit: forgot to add it's going to be released late this month

Cover: they'll do nothing. It'd be dumb for them to sue said jav studio.
Fubuki: well idk

these vtubers are bound to be lewded, whether it's drawing of irl JAV parody. Part of the job i'd say.

The problem is not whether or not people watched them, but rather whether or not people heard or know them
By playing loud and gathering lots of people, they can pretend like they are THE english vtubers community, and masked themselves as the voice of authority to the others. I think that's what the ratking is trying to do with his followers, to gain influence by playing loud
The general reaction I've seen to them spamming is other users reporting them. I expect them to get pushed aside sooner or later.

I'm not even sure if there's any hugely successful male vtubers, so if you're male, good luck. Even the most successful Holostar (Roberu, 83k subs) has only managed a fraction of the lowest HoloID (Iofifteen, 147k subs). All of Holostars combined is less successful than Kanata. By herself. Unsure if this also holds true for superchats.

I think the play for males is to show your real face, be at least somewhat handsome and charismatic, and -- this is the hardest part -- get lucky enough to attach your name to something big while it's still emerging (ie Markiplier's symbiotic relationship with FNAF)

I could (probably, if I put the effort) check just about most boxes except "sing",
because during my "black metal phase" in high school I blew out a vocal chord (or something like it, I used to be able to do high notes, now my voice just gives up if i try lmao). I am knowledgeable about niche topics that i could probably squeeze a few hours chatting about, and I know English/Spanish.

She's actually starting to be a lot more on key than she was before
Fun fact: she sucks singing everything except Country music for some reason

maybe exception of Kiara who seems the most concerned about her numbers over the others
She stopped caring after hitting the 400k subs, she has become the EN ambassador with the other branches and generations

I wonder how Cover (and/or Fubuki) would react to this
Fubuki will probably pretend it doesnt exist, but if Matsuri gets one well....

It's official, KF is more powerful than China.
The lolcows and their followers fear the Kiwi.

Problem with that is, there's too many new vtubers still flooding into the scene lately and the oversaturation is eventually going to render Domo and the ratking he's assembling almost entirely irrelevant outside of a vocal minority of speds who are, much like he is, going to try to shout their way into relevancy and, possibly, fail in the end. We might even see a lolcow thread on him at that point, depending on how he chooses to play it. But he will literally only be important to his cabal and that's about it. I'd imagine if he continues to keep this shit up, we'll start seeing more and more callout culture BS on him, kind of like what happened with that one sped who tried and failed recently, and that never goes well for the intended target.

The most successful male toobah subwise is Ninisanji's Kuzuha at 463k

i say 5 years because im actually trying to develop all those skills you mentioned, and I think i don't have the resources to even start streaming in the first place.

On one hand, it could be harder to stand out now because so many people are trying to become Vtubers right now. On the other hand, im worried that if i wait to long i'll miss the "prime opportunity" to become a vtuber in the first place, especially after the pandemic is over. But im trying to get there because i genuinely do have a love for vtubers and they're inspiring to me.

Sorry, that ended up being super cheesy lol

It's funny because I didn't realize she tried streaming beforehand until I just happened to discover a streamlabs donation page tied to her, using her little self-insert personification design as a flavor image as part of a example of how the alert would look on her stream. I couldn't find a damn thing else about that lead since she seems to have scrubbed it squeaky clean before debuting as Calli though.

Kinda interesting to note, because even if "Calli" doesn't end up shaking out for her, she has streaming as herself to fall back on. As long as she doesn't do anything to sour my views on her, I'd still watch her.

Honestly, I want to see Fubuki and Moona collaborate since they both have a strong liking to hamburgers. Just don't tell either of them about Heart Attack Grill.
Wonder if Moona will one day reach the point where she's able to eat there for free. Some time ago her mom called her fat and she decided to cope by eating 3 jumbo ramens (or Indomie?). She's only 52 kg as far as i know rn though. So it's not really all that bad. But i do find it interesting that she eats so much for a model (or perhaps ex model?).

Moona once said that she was able to eat a dozen pieces of fried chicken in a single sitting, but either she has an amazing metabolism, or she exercises like crazy.

What, Indomie? That's just the same size as a regular ramen. Unless you're talking about the jumbo version, where each is 1.5 size of the regular one.
But that thing is a carb hell though. One portion might looked small but that thing is enough for one meal. Two at a time is max for me, let alone three
