Have any of the people from the "alt right" gone back to mainstream politics? Have any of the people who began diatribes on the evils of Jewish influence, secularism, the LGBT movement, and globalist economics changed their minds and decided those are good things? The only person I can think of who has even vaguely moved in that direction is Richard Spencer, who is an unusual case.
What I'm saying is, I think once someone has gone "alternative" to a certain degree, they seem to almost never go back. So yes, people are waking up, and not falling back asleep. Fuentes is right about this. That doesn't mean their going to march on DC, or cause a civil war, or vote their way into power, nothing LARPy like that, but the political landscape is changing, and the MSM and Silicon Valley can't stop it.

I don't think Spencer has moved back to main stream politics, according to his debate on the Killstream he just thinks that Biden and Kamala will crack down on rioting despite what Trump supporters and the Trump campaign claim, also Spencer's beliefs already slightly over lap with the Democratic Party since he is economically leftwing, and I suspect he is pro-choice too. Matthew Heimbach on the other hand I think is trying to collect the ex-white nationalist shekels.

Spencer is also pro-EU (recently he has praised Macron for LARPy reasons), and doesn't seem to have ever cared about socially conservative values much. He has always attacked establishment conservatives, but has increased that recently to the point where it seems he hates conservatives a lot more than he hates anything left-wing. So even if he hasn't explicitly stated that he is moving to the left, he acts that way. At least, that is the way it seems to me. Heimbach is just a retarded attention whore.
