There's no way Barrett's recusing herself from this-- the reason she did it last time was because she had no time to catch up on the case.
Barrett only recused herself in that one case because she literally just got into DC and didn't have time to arrange everything + read the dense 100 page case report at the same time as that. She's been around since then. It's actually arguable that her recusing was actually a good thing because it set a trap for the dems to do this and then get caught by SCOTUS later on.
I am well aware of why she recused herself initially. The problem is that there is a legal argument for her recusal if they can link her nomination to an attempt to sway the election. It is NOT a done deal by any means, but Barrett lacks the history of someone like Thomas to know how she'll respond to that argument.
The fact that the votes were mixed makes me feel that it's too late to change anything. Honestly, if the lot is spoiled, you're better off just announcing that all mail in votes/votes affected by the violation are null and void and you're only counting the stuff that came in before polls closing and placing emphasis on in person votes, but that'd be accusations of voter suppression and a nuclear option I don't think SCOTUS is willing to entertain. I mean, isn't SCOTUS part of the same swamp Trump is trying to drain by himself?
Here is the thing, SCOTUS has a few tools here. And throwing out the ballots is not the big one. The two others are A: Throwing the electors to the legislature, saying they should decide themselves. 2: Announcing the whole thing is fucked and ordering a new election in Pennsylvania.
Note, it doesn't matter how hard or expensive it is to do either. The court's don't care. Its your job to do what they order.
That being said, the court... doesn't need to know what specific ballots were cast to throw them out. What matters is not the individual ballots, but the -amount- of ballots, the totals. "Lower the total by X amount, as we know Y amount of ballots were cast for Z candidates."
People are pushing him to recluse based on these posts by his wife.
And Thomas has faced that before, and told them to go fuck themselves.
To name two, why does America hate so much the railways? It's a country historically built by the train and it can't be only the motor industry lobbying fault.
Why is landing in most major American airports such an embarrassment to human dignity?
This touches on a sperg topic of mine. Railways are an ideal form of transportation to combat both crumbling infrastructure and the environmental crisis.... if we put the money into advancing them tech-wise.
Anyone know what's going on in Alaska? Still on 56% counted and not been called. They don't exactly have a booming population to produce a huge amount of ballots to count. It extremely unlikely to flip so why the delay (yes it's trump so they won't call it if they can avoid it unlike all the democrat states they called with 0 votes counted)
In short: Alaska takes advantage of its low population to have The Most Secure Election. Every single ballot is defacto audited AS IT IS COUNTED.
Its why Alaska ALWAYS takes forever, every election.
