There's a Victorian ghost story by M R James, titled The Stalls of Barchester. It concerns an ambitious man, named Dr Haynes, who rises to the position of Deacon at Barchester Cathedral, and who is poised to assume the role of Arch Deacon as soon as the doddering incumbent dies. Unfortunately for Haynes the decrepit Arch Deacon doggedly clings onto life, while those parts of the diocese that fall under his responsibility crumble to ruin around him. This compels Haynes to take some drastic steps that he later comes to regret. There is a very good BBC adaptation of the story. It was on YouTube at one point.

So why am I bringing this up here? Because, if you put on your 'They Live' glasses, and point your gaze in the direction any given 'Vote Biden' election paraphernalia, what it actually says is 'Anyone but Trump.'

Biden's usefulness ended after the Orange Man was given his marching orders. He now represents something of a liability to the Democrats; an ailing figure, possibly in the early stages of dementia, with skeletons falling out of his closet that his supporters insist are Halloween decorations, and nothing to be concerned about.

The assumption seems to be that he will step down during his first term, ostensibly for health reasons, perhaps under-shadowed by some simmering scandal related to his business ties in the Ukraine. I would have thought that, in a worst case scenario, his own party would want him gone at least a year before the next election, allowing Harris time to settle in behind the desk of the Oval Office.

But what if he doesn't go? What if he hangs on in there, and the party can't get rid of him?

I only have a stake in this election in that sense that a stone thrown in America sends ripples across the world. However, it's an intriguing situation - A floundering Commander in Chief, who can't stop sniffing children, and whose Presidency is built on the shifting sands of what is potentially a major political scandal. It will be interesting to see how the people around him oversee his time in office, the extent to which Harris takes charge, and how his premature departure is managed, if it happens.

Nah, unless you mean this one.

Some cope, some disappointment. Nothing really major. Mostly RWB trying to call cope and seethe when it's not really there.

Now compared to 2016? *chef kissing fingers in satisfaction*

That was a beautiful year

Yeah, I don't understand people comparing this election to 2016 or even saying that the amount of salt is anywhere near satisfying. 2016 was great. I went to school that morning and it was obvious people had been crying and some others had their head down in silence. Most Clinton supporters were hysterical/panicked about the "fascist" orange man winning. I remember the public demonstrations and some people coping, trying to think the electoral college wouldn't vote for him.

This election, all I've seen so far is old people posting facebook memes and people coping on social media but otherwise remaining pretty calm. Obviously, there's been some freak outs but not as much as I expected and definitely not as much as 2016.

Perhaps we'll be able the harvest more salt if it's 100% certain for Trump supporters that he won't be president after he goes to court. Also, there's some rallies happening soon so maybe we'll see funny things then. I'm actually seeing more bad things being posted about Biden & Harris by young lefties and progressives.

So they are reeeing because there is not enough reeeeing

Seems legit
Best I can tell. I bet there's plenty of salt if you goto thedonald or gab or any other right wing hangout.

But they want locally sourced artisinal salt from the farms. I guess as a sort of revenge of their home forum dunking on TDS suffers for the past 4 years.

WTF! HOLY SHIT! Lolcow in the works
Fun fact: This dude is from the same town as Kamala. She likes to say that she's from Oakland, but she's actually from Piedmont. Piedmont is a wealthy, white majority suburb of Oakland. It's the kind of place that politicians go home to after spending the day LARPing as working class and preaching the strengths of diversity.

The mean income of Piedmont residents is $101,794 and a majority of households in Piedmont make $200,000+

Hey, let me read the room real quick, i didn't read this tread much so idk what the consensus is.

Do you think the election was rigged in favor of biden?
:agree: is a yes
:lunacy: is a no
:optimistic:and every other sticker is Adolf Hitler

remember to vote
barring some sudden surge of votes supporting bi... er, Adolf Hitler i think a clear consensus has been reached.

Kind of ignoring that, well, conversatives arent liberals just with a different name

We differ on behavior and emotional maturity. They WANT to believe that our skepticism over the results are "coping" when we truly just want to guarantee that the democratic process is preserved. Because if this election truly was frauded, us, the leaders of the free world, what sort of standard and message that will send for the rest of the world?

Can you guys talk about Arizona more? I've got a bet riding on it (four way with Texas, Florida and NC) that I'd written off, but CNN have "uncalled" it? Does the Drumph still have a chance?? I can't find much info.

Let us not count our wins just yet. The court filings may give us some decent showing.

It sounds like it's likely going Biden, but it's not official yet

While I can't say I'm happy about the outcome (so far), I can't let it affect me too much. At least the salt from both sides will continue to power the Internet.

I'm not gonna get too optimistic but it would guaranteed such a salt flood that would become such a fable and legend passed down to our children long into the future, that we would have to clarify which we mean when talking about a great flood.
