There’s a reason why Texas and California periodically float the idea. The matter was never settled Constitutionally, just by military and later judicial fiat, which was a massive oversight that seems pretty fucking odd now that I’m thinking about it. Why didn’t Lincoln force through such an amendment during/after the war? Weird.

Anyway, I personally believe amicable secession should be allowed to prevent some future civil war over the rights of moonmen 500 years from now.
I don't think any states seceding is at all likely any time soon. California is the one which makes the most noise (because it has the biggest GDP/population) and they're not even self sufficient in water. Their politicians know that and won't leave.

OH NO THIS IS NOT GOOD

“In Pennsylvania, three Republican leaders told me they had already discussed the direct appointment of electors among themselves, and one said he had discussed it with Trump’s national campaign.

“I’ve mentioned it to them, and I hope they’re thinking about it too,” Lawrence Tabas, the Pennsylvania Republican Party’s chairman, told me. “I just don’t think this is the right time for me to be discussing those strategies and approaches, but [direct appointment of electors] is one of the options. It is one of the available legal options set forth in the Constitution.” He added that everyone’s preference is to get a swift and accurate count. “If the process, though, is flawed, and has significant flaws, our public may lose faith and confidence” in the election’s integrity.

Jake Corman, the state’s Senate majority leader, preferred to change the subject, emphasizing that he hoped a clean vote count would produce a final tally on Election Night. “The longer it goes on, the more opinions and the more theories and the more conspiracies [are] created,” he told me. If controversy persists as the safe-harbor date nears, he allowed, the legislature will have no choice but to appoint electors. “We don’t want to go down that road, but we understand where the law takes us, and we’ll follow the law.”

Republicans control both legislative chambers in the six most closely contested battleground states. Of those, Arizona and Florida have Republican governors, too. In Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, the governors are Democrats.”

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
DIRECT APPOINTMENT IS BEING DISCUSSED
This is one of those things I would have to see in order to believe; Obviously it would break the country, but the sheer potential salt-mining if they even go through with it and fail makes me wish that they will pull the trigger.

Still they got to be hesitating to go that far, I could see them actually being charged with treason if they fuck it up lmao.

These are not joke lolsuits. That many affidavits with claims that can be verified (or refuted) by, in the case of signature verification, simple examination of the ballots, this is serious lol business.
I don't know man - this sounds a bit limp-dicked. I suppose all the voting software stuff is out the window since it's nowhere to be found in these lolsuits.

In this case they wouldn't be faithless, because the state legislature has plenary power to appoint them.
Yeah that's my bad, I'm aware that's the case, I just can't think of a better shorthand that gets the point across, unless someone wants to enlighten me.

More.... not something they need to allege. The Michigan legislature already announced an audit, and that will cover that entirely already. The lawsuits are for things that CAN'T be fixed by audits.

I'm fully strapped in for the internet chimpout alone when we reach this stage.

It'd be BLM-tier virtue signalling all over again, but instead of a black square we get a blue one.
It will make the BLM riots look like nothing. The vast majority of young Americans don't understand how the system works because civics classes were cut. For them, it'll be like the fall of America under a Hitler like fascist who undermined their legitimate candidate and their poc #girlboss VP. They will believe that they are actually fighting for the soul of the nation. If trump pulls the insurrection act on them, Dems will impeach him again.

New thread. PA electioneers fucked up and returned ballot harvested ballots before they were mailed to the people, or the same day. Almost all of these are in two districts.

tl;dr:
  • A lot of mail in ballots were received before they were mailed out. ~3.5% of the ballots, or about 109.5k.
  • 44% of these came from Philadelphia and Lehigh
  • There's a higher ratio of these that were not requested online than normal ballots.
  • There is an anomalous spike in ballots that were received within 0-1 days of being sent. Vast majority were received 10-20 days after being sent.
  • Another anomaly is that there's about 1000 ballots that were "fast" ballots. Started arriving MUCH faster than other ballots in their request frame.
  • This is possibly because of Overseas Civilian Absentee ballots, Absentee voters, and Military Absentee ballots.
  • Excluding Suspicious, "received 5 days before sent or within a day" ballots, Median for normal ballots is 14 days, fast ballots 11 days. Mean is 16 and 13.
  • The last chart with the overlay you can see where the anomalies are. They're the red smears. The main injection of suspicious ballots into the system was 10/26-27 for mail date, and were returned same day. 43k ballots.
Were one of the ballot harvesting groups working with an elections official to get ballots turned in same day? In my city even a letter down the block takes at least 1 business day to get there. The idea that I could mail something, it arrive, the reply get mailed back to me, and the reply arrive in my mailbox... in the same DAY, is absurd. If nothing else, the fact that the mail was delivered to the recipient means the return mail would be delayed by 24 hours because the mail carrier had already been to your mailbox.

The fact that some of these people were sending their ballots in ~5 days before they were mailed is... hah.

I'm sure the left identifies those ballots as being legit, though, so we all need to accept it.
Maybe all those 120 year olds used their wisened intellect to develop faster than light mail systems.

Man, they really want to try and pressure him into dropping out. There's been what, four or five separate stories now about people in his inner circle trying to convince him to concede even though they've blatantly said they're not doing that, and helping him organize political rallies on top of that? For people who are absolutely convinced that everything is kosher and Joe Biden won legitimately, they sure are awful disinterested in legal proceedings.
If the results were flipped the Right would be bitching about the Democrats dragging this out instead.

Shitposting aside everyone knew this was getting decided by a court regardless of who won.

I don’t care about optics when the Constitution is on the line. Journalists can scream all they want, but we need to get this fraud under control. Also, if you have to resort to fraud for your candidate to “win”, they were a weak candidate to begin with.
If you resorted to fraud you've violated the Constitution already; you don't get to cry about any measures the Constitution allows that can be used to nullify it.

I recently connected with a fellow equestrienne so I'm taking a break, maybe I'll go upstate, do some riding and wait this out.

I'm in the purple 'burbs, so I'm close enough to be concerned, but have don't have to go far to bug out to friendlier territory.
I actually live in the suburbs of a large Blue city, but it's far enough the riots didn't come anywhere near and I'm pretty sure local police won't be taking any shit if they do. There are also no large or important government buildings here, so things should be safe here. Call it a perfect spot to watch the fireworks.

Something I just realized should probably be said for those who don't know how electoral lawsuits woooork.

A few thing:
1: You can only file a lawsuit where you can show damage. So, losing the election or clear evidence of something being done to disadvantage you.
2: It has to be something for which there is no other remedy. If a recount or audit can find it, you can't sue for it.
3: Discovery is a thing. The initial complaint has to be enough that the judge deems there is a reasonable probability of fraud, and discovery lets you look into it with legal weight behind you.

True. But you know what would make this more tolerable? The MSM not sucking Trump's cock 24/7 while trying to legitimise him.

That alone would be preferable to this active propaganda being shoved into everyone's face.

Eyewitness testimony is the most or second most powerful evidence in the law, depending. There's nothing limp about this election lolsuit. It's a rock hard six inches. They get geeks access to the voting machines and specifically the code, it might get into Long Dong Silver territory even before Clarence Thomas gets involved.

Fraud is fraud. I don’t care who does it and if we were seeing the same things flipped, it would still look bad. Between blocking people from watching the ballots being counted to outright ignoring the Supreme Court, these aren’t the actions of people that believe their candidate won fairly.
