I meant to post this months ago: here's a reddit thread where Minneapolis residents get upset over their leftist politicians fucking them over with skyrocketing demolition costs for buildings damaged in the riots.
Local politicians blame "capitalism" and "price gouging" for the cost of the demolitions, but the real reason for the cost seems to be the harmful substances in said buildings (like asbestos) that complicates the removal/demolition costs.

The fun part of all of this is they never show how many people got infected through events like this.

The one good thing to happen under Trump's presidency was the changes to the tax code so that workers took home more money in each paycheck and lower-income taxpayers got a larger standard exemption that would often leave them with zero federal taxes due. Beyond that, though, you're right that he failed to accomplish most of his other goals and promises.

It also didn't help that infighting within the Republican congress members doomed any chance to reform the Affordable Care Act because they couldn't decide whether it should be tweaked, replaced with something else, or outright scrapped with no replacement.

To be fair, I think Trump intended to make good on his promises, but he had the mindset that all he had to do was decree it or tell congress to do it and it would happen solely on his say-so. Unfortunately, being POTUS is different than being the CEO of one's own business. There's a particularly way stuff needs to be done, primarily legislation enacted through congress. Absent that, it's difficult to get anything done. I don't think Trump ever truly grasped that, and that was probably one of his biggest shortcomings as president.

I've given up on the evening news for quite some time, absent some sort of happening I want to hear more about. DTV is good for watching reruns of old favorites but little else right now.

Medical professionals in some areas have been told not to track who may have contracted COVID from being out at protests and not following the usual guidelines of distancing and hygiene demanded of everyone else in any other setting.

I believe when the protests were at their peak early this summer, one of our members who works in an ER or Urgent Care facility posted how they and their coworkers were under strict orders not to ask anyone complaining of COVID symptoms if they had attended protests. When someone complaining of COVID-like symptoms was examined by our Kiwi, the former voluntarily disclosed that they had attended a recent protest. When that utterance was documented in the medical records as required for all such statements, the Kiwi was disciplined even though they never asked the patient about attending protests; it was the patient that freely disclosed it without being asked.

He was against busing, which was fair, because it was politically unpopular for everyone except upwardly striving minority parents who couldn't afford to send their kids to private school, which is one reason why Kamala made such a big deal about it. She and her parents were exhibit A for that phenomenon. (The other reason was so Kamala could larp as "woke" when she's done effectively nothing for the black community throughout her career.)

Aah, that's interesting. I had no idea about that. Is it fair to say then that there's maybe more to it than a simple "he's waycist?"

Harris to me seems very much like a left wing Candace Owens. From what I've read of her, 1. She's not black, at all. She's brown because her Mother was Indian, if I remember right, and 2. Her parents, especially her Mother, were hugely influential to her, and (as much as I might dislike Harris) it seems to be fair to say she does have an excellent work ethic.



Edited to say, I know Harris's dad was black, but he was extremely, extremely light skinned, barely black at all. Seems like she gets more of her colouring from her Mum. I bet, given her Mum's grandparents are Indian and her Mum's Dad was a diplomat, they shat bricks when they found out Harris's Mum was rejecting the culture of arranged marriage, and worse, marrying a black man.


Further edit: Her dad is/was Jamaican. So not really jogger black at all, and quite different to the blacks you get in the USA who are drains on the state with their gibs fo life, popping out numerous children, and driving the riots. Both gained PhDs, and as much as I might intensely loathe their politics, they clearly made true successes of themselves. That will obviously be memory holed but it would be spectacularly funny if BLM turned on them. And Harris's Dad was clearly one of the elite, lighter skinned Jamaicans who fared better than most of his countrymen.

Yeah, it's pretty difficult to tar Biden with the "racist" charge for opposing busing in current year since it was never that popular in the first place, he was doing what his constituents wanted (some white opposition to busing was undoubtedly motivated by racism, but some of it was because they didn't want their kids to endure a long commute to a shitty school), and these days people are at best completely indifferent to it. Upwardly striving minority parents want better schools in their own communities, not for their kids to be shipped to the opposite side of town.

Kamala trying to use busing to bring down Biden is strong evidence of what shit political instincts she has. Busing, the '90s crime bill, "super predators", "Corn Pop", and Biden in the last debate blaming black parents for black children's failures amounted to nothing. No one fucking cares.

If I recall, CHAZ had both rape and shootings. I can't recall if the victim(s) from the latter died. Because of the chazzies' attitudes towards police, crimes went unreported, evidence was snatched/destroyed, and the incidents were memory holed as much as possible.
