I'm posting this having missed the last 90 pages, so apologies if this has been mentioned yet, I'm just writing something on my mind.
Earlier, the play seemed to be pressuring Trump to concede, and, once it appeared Trump would dig his heels in, the media crowned Biden and is seeking to normalise Prez & VP-elect. Trouble is, this is a game of persuasion, and Trump has groomed millions of supporters to stand by him. They're not just gonna walk off because news anchors they don't even watch tell them to.
Instead, their zeal is only going to get renewed by news this week. The court cases are going to be considered a win by virtue of ordering audits and recounts at all. It gives them hope. Slim, but better than nothing. What's more, as I mentioned with post #30,466, the victors of this election are NOT HAPPY. Not at all. I think the intense seething from various places online is from the acknowledgement that Trump was a symptom of their troubles and not the disease. The hard left's entryism job has, if anything, gotten more difficult now. At least if Biden lost they could claim their centrists failed the Democrats in 2016 and 2020 in order to incite revolution. Now AOC's on the side begging for scraps. Same for all these other sycophants looking for Kamala's blessing-- a party apparatchik with 0 electoral mandate of her own btw, but will almost certainly be #47.
My main point, though, is one we all know ITT. Twitter people have 0 self-awareness. They want attention and clout for their cool zingers but never do introspection on how their ramblings look to normal people. The 'MAGA watchlists' and assorted antifa hit-jobs? That's them headhunting. Defeating Orange Man wasn't satisfying because they beat him with a front-man who represents everything wrong with establishment politics. They don't get to complain about Biden-Harris either, because they campaigned to successfully install them. So instead, they seek the dopamine rush they were expecting from toppling Trump by trying to hunt down his supporters. They want to cancel on an industrial scale here, and not necessarily because they want to (of course, they do though). The real impetus is because they think then, finally then, they can feel that bit of joy they thought they deserved on November 3rd.
But, again, this is a persuasion game at this stage. If the majority of the country still think Trump's the president, he'll win. If not? Biden will be president. Anybody in the thread thinking the Supreme Court won't be influenced by public opinion is being a bit too idealistic. If masses of Trump supporters openly defect to accepting Biden, Trump is gone no matter what Giuliani digs up. And what's Joe doing here? Playing it quite well, honestly. He doesn't usually say much, when he does it's openly intimidating blue collar workers to their face or calling Trump supporters fascists... but this week it's all bland platitudes about unity and hope. Shit you'd see in a B-movie where some old guy plays the president. It does the job, and if that were the only messaging from the left I could see the Trump coalition dissolving amid all the other pressures.
Unfortunately for the Left, the disaffected left, including socialists, soys, and antifa, want their dopamine hit and they want it NOW. Hence, calling for the databases, the golden stars, mass firings and re-education camps. They're doing more to steel Republicans' resolve than any Trump rally. If you're a moderate and hear that this is the future the left is calling for? Suddenly the prospect of Trump somehow clawing back a win doesn't sound like a complete abrogation of democracy. Which is really all Trump needs. If the public still has the mindset that Trump could win, then he can.
It'd be supreme irony if a movement borne out of hating cronyist politics, yet was collectively gaslit into supporting the biggest crony of them all in a bid to become the president, have their misdirected zealous 'take no prisoners' attitude be the very thing which undoes said crony's attempt to oust the incumbent populist.
