The big reveal of huntergate was that Biden was receiving cash payments from the PRC through his son Hunter, acting as an intermediary. Nothing ultimately came of this in terms of Biden being thrown in jail because he's rich and connected. Plus, the average person is just plain used to political corruption at this point. It did arguably have an affect on Biden's poll numbers though.

Probably waited until now because it is too late for them to try to pull a Vindman. Firing them was probably in the cards for the second term. Now there will be an even more desperate need to screw Trump over, however the Dems no longer have the means due to this current fiasco.
