Mega Rad Gun Thread

The aisles at the local box stores are empty except for light shotgun loads and odd calibers like .25 acp or .300 ultra mag. I think they probably are keeping some back behind the counter to sell with gun purchases but I haven’t asked.

My buddy’s shop is able to keep some ammo in stock. I picked up some .44 mag and .308 this weekend but the selection is getting very limited. He says he has to buy all he can when it’s available which is stressful for him - he’s dreading getting stuck with a lot of oddball calibers or brands that he won’t be able to sell.

Got me a stash of ammo. Haven't really been shooting a whole lot cause I really wanna conserve as much as I can, especially with the election coming up. I don't particularly like Trump but I'm hoping he wins just so we can have some relief from these absurd ammo prices.

Speaking of hard to find treasures; anyone having luck buying ammo?
There's a Big 5 near me that occasionally has some .30 carbine and 7.62, but good luck finding any common pistol calibers. If I'm willing to pay through the nose, I can find pistol ammo at a small, family-run gun shop a few blocks away, but their prices keep going up. Last time I bought there, I ended up paying close to 65 cents/round for .40S&W and almost as much for some .38 special.

I used to shoot 1k+ rounds a month, but now I only shoot what I can replace by raiding nearby stores for all their ammo that any of my guns will run. Surprisingly, plenty of 7.62x39 wolf trash, so I've been shooting my AKs a lot more lately. Haven't been able to find any 9mm September, but one store I frequent still has some .40 and .45.

Also, every store seems to have .45 Colt, which makes range trips a little weird. AKs and wheelguns. On the plus side, I'm really liking my Uberti 1858 New Army cartridge conversion now that I've put a few hundred rounds through it.

I'm half considering picking up a .45 Colt revolver at some point because of it, I've been wanting a revolver anyway and it looks like a fun versatile round that can go from fun cowboy LARPing on one end to full retard approaching .44 Mag levels on the other.

As long as you stay away from Bubba's Pissin' Hot Reloads with .45 Colt revolvers, you'll like them just fine. Personally I recommend getting a 1858 cartridge conversion and just running typical cowboy loads. Good way to have some fun and it commie compliant if you ever need to travel through those dark hellscapes. Also matches any lever guns in .45 Colt just fine, which is nice.

I live in a dark hellscape sadly but the laws are at least somewhat revolver-proof for now. I was looking at either a Ruger Blackhawk or Redhawk since I would like to be able to fire the pissin' hot reloads on occasion for shits and giggles.

Anyone have recommendations for single stack 9mm pistols for $400 or less so I have a list to rent and try out at the range? I live in a warm area of the country and am willing to give up capacity (7 minimum) for comfort and ease of concealment.. I've already been recommended the Shield, PPS M2, XDS and the G2 of G3Cs.

Maybe add the LC9 to look at? However looking at Bud’s website it looks like it might just be outside the price range ($435)

edit: Beretta Nano may be worth looking at, too.

Biden is going to go after everything.
Hopefully the legislature will prevent him from doing so if his attempt to steal the election through fraud succeeds. Not holding my breath but damn it people should have already grabbed the shit they wanted, they had four years. Certainly won't prevent him from attempting to go full Gestapo on everything but the president ain't a king.

This is still the brain child of the ATF and the ATF has unilaterally fucked people before by acting like they're a legislative branch of government instead of enforcement of existent laws.

I hope with the recent SC picks there will be more Constitutional challenges to the ATF's arbitrary rule making that can turn someone into an overnight felon with zero oversight from Congress.
