I keep forgetting about that bit, perhaps it could a combo of owada feeling (survivor's) guilt that he hides his weakness under a semi-facade of courage and Chihiro was strong enough to face his weakness + explosive "no homo" at being tricked then, moreso the former. Owada's brother was hardly pointed out much, iirc. It's been a while.

No, i remember it clearly. Oowada didn't saw Chihiro as a romantic/sexual interest a lot, and it was weirded out by him asking him to train and all that, but he took him in anyways. When the cat got out of the bag, Oowada got reminded of his own weakness and the consequences of his own weakness, meaning the death of his brother and the fact that he had to lie to his gang about the death of his brother. This obviously was a trauma but it also instilled the idea in him that he was less than his brother and therefore he was not cut to be the gang leader, creating an obsession about being strong and always appearing strong.

The revelation about Chihiro probably broke him, seeing how a weak man like Chihiro was stronger than him by actually facing his flaws rather than hiding them.

You can bet that most translations these days are tarnished by whatever political bullshit the author believes in.

When i was in college, one teacher put us through an interesting exercise: interpret a speech from a far right party from England. I was the only one that managed to finish the exercise and all the others said that "they couldn't bear with saying what they had to say". Plus, knowing that pushing political bullshit these days is more of a norm, you can consider pretty much every text manipulated in some way or another.

Jeez, I thought you downloaded a thumbnail, but NO, THAT'S HOW IT'S POSTED. I even tried viewing the page source to get a larger image and that's the biggest I could find without going line-by-line in the page code.

I don't even want to know what's going on in this last one. Everything here is gross. It's like they found love at the local crackhouse, strung out of their minds. Why is everything so pale and washed out except Vegeta's tongue and Bulma's blue granny hair??? Why did anyone think this looked good at all??????

I can't get the images I want to show to appear but here's one that does work. That is a keyring that you can buy. Why would anyone want a picture of a frumpy-looking child to carry around?

Sometimes I'm baffled when I see what people buy, especially when it's fan merch. I always prioritize official merch but when it's fan made it better be top quality and it surprises me the majority doesn't think that way apparently

The main gripe for me is the mouth, which looks atrocious as sin. That paired with the nose makes her appear really unappealing. Also for whatever reason the chest is really off for me, as if it's out of place or crooked.

Also, if that is Chibiusa then she would need more of a light pink that this kind of pink. At first i didn't even recognized the character tbh.

everything about this looks rushed as hell - the shading makes no sense, especially on the chin and boob area. seriously, nobody should have that drag queen-level push-up going on at her age if they didn't spend 30 seconds on this total, then they definitely just copied some artist they like without studying why they put the lines and colors where they are
also i just hate that face. it's awful. why is she going : /. why is it uncomfortably detailed. they gonna draw her nostrils (and i assume tried to give her asian lids...?) but not the rest of her neck and collarbones? what even is this style???

Personally speaking, if it is something like a character that has no official merchandise (but is very popular within the fanbase) I can see why would someone buy fanmerch of the character in question. Other reasons I could see for it would be to support an artist you really like, because it is cheaper and easier to obtain or because people do not know how to obtain Japanese imports online.

Still, though, the quality control when it comes to fanmerch (and how it is priced) is atrocious, and some people just don't know what else to do with their money.
