To be completely fair to those people, some of them do volunteer to righteous causes. But it's never enough for them.

The problem is that they're so heavily indoctrinated into thinking globally that local causes don't really do anything for them. In their mind, they don't see the worth in helping in a soup kitchen or running donation drives to help drug-addicted homeless people go clean, because it "only" helps their neighborhood or their city at most. Meanwhile, their idology talks about how the entire world is unfair and terrible and how the very fabric of society is woven out of the congealed blood of the oppressed and all that crap. At minimum, they have to "help" and entire demographic group, which is where you get the race advocates (read: racists).

Helping a single poor person or even a hundred feels like nothing to them, they can never be happy because their worldview is completely dystopic. Which is ironic, since they see everything through a lenses of class but refuse to look objectively at the most basic distinction of class out there: haves vs. have-nots.

I'd disagree. If this was the case you'd see them volunteering and organizing national or international charity efforts with the intent of solving the problem. They could be part of a soup kitchen network that helps "black trans homeless" or whatever with others attempting to address the problem. Conversely you wouldn't see any local protests intent on changing local laws, which are obviously fairly popular in places like Portland.

Inherently it is an effort calculation. It doesn't take much effort to walk down the street and shout a couple of things. Those who went to the actual peaceful protests point out that its something like a street fair, everyone is just kind of hanging out doing nothing. You just show up and play on your phone/do drugs/whatever else hippies do in their spare time. Then get bored and go home. It doesn't require spending hours cooking and giving away soup. It doesn't require sorting through clothes to give away. It doesn't require a set commitment where you're expected to show up every week to make the whole thing work. Just show up once. Leave whenever you feel like. You get some similar personal benefits (feeling of accomplishment and righteousness, social capital) without having to do nearly as much work.

This also explains political twitter sperging, which takes even less effort than "participating' for the same reasons.

Today, the Minneapolis City Council voted to spend half a million dollars to hire outside police because oddly enough, crime has skyrocketed after they declared they would abolish the police. Tucker blasted an idiotic University of Minnesota philosophy professor‘s tweet to his show. Professor makes account private. But not before someone archived the tweet!

I wonder why they burned through their budget.. couldn't have anything to do with fighting riots for months, right?
The chief says most of it was spent on salaries and other non-negotiables. All that riot overtime surely helped!

It is a little sad because the chief told the city council and mayor years ago the city needed more beat cops because “pack robberies” were on the rise downtown. Just guess who commits those pack robberies? Anyway, the city has been understaffed with police for years and 1/4 of the department has left or is considering leaving. The chief is exasperated by the city council and should quit. Leave the disaster to the dumbshits who created it.

English Faculty Vote to Change Name to ‘Department of Literatures in English’

https://cornellsun.com/2020/10/14/e...name-to-department-of-literatures-in-english/ (https://archive.vn/ttBOb)
Excerpt:
The new proposed name — “the department of literatures in English” — would mark a distinct change in the department’s branding, helping to eliminate what Director of Undergraduate Studies Prof. Kate McCullough, English, said was the “conflation of English as a language and English as a nationality.”
//
“Faculty around the country — not just faculty of color, but faculty in general — began to look at the institution to see how we can help advance a discourse that challenges structural forms of racism which get reproduced in students and in teaching over and over again,” Boyce-Davies said.

One more thing, there was a reason before as to why LGBT representation wasn't allowed or strongly discouraged back in the mid to late 2000's. It's not because the higher ups of the company hated people of that demograph, it was because so much funding went into making the cartoons in the first place and seasons, depending on how consistent and popular the trends of viewers grow, were a risk. Because at the time it was a hot button topic that had divisive to almost flat out mixed opinions, channels and investors were very worried that viewers would stop watching the show either out of disgust or because parents wanted nothing to do with it and the press that would come along either from Fox News or conservative news sources would curb stomp them into the ground. So the show gets slashed in viewership numbers and investors get less or sometimes no returns at all. So this battle is horseshit to me, this is a matter of cultural acceptance, not a fucking battle of representation.
So it's some "wet streets cause rain" logic? They want to signal acceptance through coerced representation, but the coercion even being possible proves acceptance.

Tragic too, because one wonders how much change they could make if they just started at home.

I remember reading an interesting article by a 'green' activist who was going heavily against the grain. He was arguing that the best green technologies aren't large-scale crap like solar and wind farms, but little things, like improving home insulation and more efficient HVAC systems. That little stuff adds up fast and has a better ROI than the big wind turbines that are so prone to breaking down.

But that's not BIG and AWESOME, so they blow it off.
Someone must have noticed, wasn't that what the rebuilding of all buildings in the Green New Deal was about?

On this topic i don't know why Legend of Whorra gets constantly brought up tbh.
It was a bad show and it was shoehorned in the last episode because the people doing the show knew that they were getting shitcanned.

But to make long story short, fuck representation. The fact that inmense idiots like these look for something superficial and general rather than something with a deeper meaning in the characters should say a lot about them.
I don't get the hype zoomers have for some obscure children's cartoon like Avatar that's going on. Shouldn't they be watching something more for adults?

To be honest, i would like more adult cartoons aside from Family guy and the such, who in my eyes have grown stale as fuck.

The thing that happens with Avatar is that many have lauded the original as a masterpiece in storytelling, and they have good reasons for that. Then, came Legend of Whorra which all the fans of the original consider to be a steaming pile of shit. From the plot making no sense to Korra being generally unlikable outside of fetishists wanting to rub their dicks on her brown abs and the obvious LGBT pandering. This also leads to many wanting to fuck the lesbian out of her and the ensuing battle over if she's really a lesbo or not because during a part of the story she has this love triangle with two brothers that fight over her.

Rule of thumb: if the government gets involved, expect shitloads of graft and corruption.

And while upgrading old buildings and developing new building codes for new ones is a good idea, looking up the Green New Deal should give you pause. Literally the FIRST BULLET POINT is:

"Enact an emergency Green New Deal to turn the tide on climate change, revive the economy and make wars for oil obsolete. Initiate a WWII-scale national mobilization to halt climate change, the greatest threat to humanity in our history. Create 20 million jobs by transitioning to 100% clean renewable energy by 2030, and investing in public transit, sustainable (regenerative) agriculture, conservation and restoration of critical infrastructure, including ecosystems."

Yeaaaah, this isn't gonna just involve improving insulation.

They also want to cluster populations and "increase diversity", is my guess. If your property has been seized by the gov't so they can build they GND ghettos, you'll toe the line pretty quickly, assuming you haven't already been killed while resisting the illegal seizure of your property. How else are you going to get a new pod, if you resist anything you aren't explicitly told to, like Orange Man?

The funny thing is, there's nothing preventing these people from going carbon neutral right now. They just don't want to unless everyone has to suffer with them

They don't want to suffer with anyone, they want to peasants to be jammed into their pods, consooming. People like AOC don't think they're anything like us, none of the politicians or CEOs do, they think they're better than us, and we need to be herded, for our own safety.
