Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

A channel I binged watched recently is Nick Crowley; very chill voice and he does a lot of videos on mysteries / scares I haven't heard of before. Also, lowkey comes across as a little shitposty from time to time which I like. A lot of his old videos have his face in them and he like, heavily involved himself but honestly after binging on his mystery videos, I didn't mind it so much. He's a lot easier to watch / listen to than Nexpo and his videos are well-made enough not to be cringe.
A rabbit hole I stumbled down on Youtube has been this whole tik tok randonautica thing that a lot of the kids are doing. Some teens followed the coordinates given to them on this spooky app and ended up finding a diced up body which kind of kicked off a trend of kids doing the same in the hopes that they'll find some fucked up stuff, too. There are tonnes of compilations of this. Some of them are good fun, some are clearly fake and some are plays on the scariness of the whole situation that kickstarted it all.
All in all though, if you can get past annoying tiktok teens and the generic youtube creepypasta channels that are trying to cash in, the compilations are pretty fun to watch.
Well said, his old stuff can be a bit cringe at times but it's laughable because he isn't totally ego centered. Also, the annoying shit sure is annoying, but I feel it's apart of the community and the newcomers that arise. We all started somewhere haha.

shame his content got worse as his mic quality got better
The rapid introduction of new technologies and popularity of ones youtube channel almost always gets in the way of the creation of good content.
Is better sound quality worth the hit in the intrinsic value of the video? I think not.
Is 1080p 60fps worth knowing that eventually all your favorite content creators will grow a massive ego and become fart huffing furries? I think not.
Should we have to reduce ourselves, to grovel in the dirt installing adblocks, sponsor skipping addons and who knows what else just to not have to hear some absolute autist peddle us VPNs, software no one cares about, shaving creams and other nonsense so he can dedicate his life to producing videos on youtube? I think not.
What I'm trying to say is that the Blue Yeti and its consequences has been a disaster for the human race.

YT horror can be divided into various types.

There the classic horror reviewer. These people make content on actual horror media: games, movies, books, ect. This can range from decent reviews, to documentaries, faggy video essays, and in the laziest shit channels were they just recount the deaths in a movie *cough kill count*.

There is the creepypasta youtubers. These guys can just either read creepypastas or crappypastas sometimes providing commentary sometimes not. Then you also had people like TopTatsVideos who made surprisingly well edited top creepypasta compilations.

Recently the "real" horror channels have popped who cover args, true crime, internet mysteries ect. These guys can range from fun and informative to self important BS. I think that ARGs have ruined these types of videos as now every low bit redditor throws together a weird post or video with some hexadecimal and every youtuber has to cover it and act like its real, remember Eratas? The most recent of these channels that remains good is the Barely Sociable channel as he mostly cuts the larping bs to just find out whats going on.

Oh shit nigga how I could I forgot Trent the GOAT? That album is pretty great too.
I wish everything had been archived better. I'm grateful for what was saved, but sometimes I just wanna freak myself out by watching the Red Horse Vector video at 4 am, followed by listening to the Star Chamber call.

The man is an unrepentant furry, unironically thinks he is a four-eyed cat, he's a homosexual and a degenerate, the blue yeti is probably an MKULTRA device that shoots gay-gas into your face as you talk into it, that's the only rational and sensible conclusion. That's why I use the Blue snowball instead, and make sure my audio quality is as subpar as possible, like a real man.

Checked out Atrocity Guide thanks to this thread and happy to have subscribed.

In regard to Night Mind don't forget he actually traveled to take part in an ARG, which was interesting despite how much tard behavior it put on display.

Best description. The man sells plushies. Of himself.

Still, good sleep audio and if you like ARGs he's a nice trailhead summary...or was. His content has as stated in this thread started to decline a bit.

I unfollowed most horror channels when they turned their content to nothing but ARGs. ARGs are gay and even more boring and uncreative than videogame creepypastas, most of the times is just an excuse to promote some kid on a shitty social media app.
"Faggot 17 yr Tik tok user chased by spooky skeleton stalker while playing fortnite boooooo"
"Top ten most disturbing posts from Reddit r/nosleep"

I like channels that maybe go into more historical and academic takes on the subjects. Like In Praise of Shadows or that one religion scholar who talks about the origin of different myths and explains magick and stuff, even something like Last Podcast on the Left were at least the subjects are interesting.

It's funny how after Nexpos last video, I came here to see if anyone was talking about it. Mainly because it was cringey as all fuck. He used to make decent videos but then, I don't know if anyone noticed how much he started to censor his videos / cover ARGs. I've found his last few videos lack the intrigue and kind of...unbias his old videos had. It's sad really because his voice is easy to listen to and his editing used to be good.
Kind of an unrelated to 'creepy' channels but I recently started watching Vagrant Holiday, basically a bum who travels the world. Funny commentary, seems like a chill guy. He did a video about an abandoned island that was both creepy, entertaining and cosy. Kinda glad I was reccomended him from watching Nexpo.
Great channel. Hopefully someone backs up because he's unlisted/deleted a few of his vids in the past.

Thoughts on Lady White Rabbit? I was recommended from the related videos on Atrocity Guide. The narration is nice but the videos need visuals. Definitely videos to listen to and not watch.

Also, there are claims of plagiarism on her Gloria Ramirez (The Toxic Lady) video, which makes me wonder if she's lifted her scripts for her other videos.

I am so fucking sick of ARG content. It's fucking low-IQ larping garbage.

It screams: "I am an autist that needs to pay my power bill and so I am going to try and milk other autists out of their adsense attention-bux by filming shaky cam footage in my aunties house and make a gay website with wingding font "hidden" messages."

Personally ARGs can be good but they can only ever be entertainingly fucking stupid or actually good with great writing or a budget to back it up.

For every Dad and Marble Hornets, there are 1,000's of edgelords trying to be the next big thing for ARG's but all fail because they suck at immersion or are boring

I can't decide what I despise more, the shitty ARG's or the obvious content farming by talking about every last half baked garbage one that's posted online. I've given up and started watching content like MBH, at least then there's no pretense that the game isn't just a created product, rather than an a bullshit ARG by some failed art/film student who dug up their dad's super-8.

I think my favourite ARG type of thing off the top of my head is Petscop cause the whole premise of it implies that the person behind it had to make an entire game from scratch, which already takes a lot more care and effort than making some shaky found footage with your phone or RPing on twitter.

Nexpo/Scare theater/Night mind/Inside a min are so mediocre.

The only good channel rn are Barely sociable and atrocity guide

Funnily enough, I have watched one of Vagrant Holiday's videos, "Forbidden island" after I saw it in the recommendations page.

And I have seen Nexpo's recent video weeks ago, it was alright tbh it did make me fume though, I do wish he stops being melodramatic. And I will agree that Atrocity Guide is pretty good, imo. Is it sad that I enjoy the other medicore spooky channels as well?
And I'm not sure about ARG's currently either.

See: Erratas, which by the end of all of it was stupid since it was basically DJ Roswell (some dude who posts on /x/ a lot) vaugeposting his band. The guy made a few decent tracks, but if he put more effort into his music and not a terrible ARG I think it could have made a difference.

Edit: incase anyone has any doubts about the Erratas ARG not being dead, well, here you go:
