I like to listen to Lutch Green when I'm doing stuff. I haven't watched Nextpo in a while but seeing yall talk about him I watched 1 min of his recent video and wow it's cringey how he's trying to spin it into something SPOOPY when it's just internet drama. What's with youtubers and giving TMI?
I'm going to start watching Astrocity Guide thanks to this thread.
I remember when Nexpo showed his face in a video for the first time. He asked his subscribers if they wanted to see more videos with his face in them. The comments were full of people (respectfully) asking him not to show his face in the videos (and a bunch of "fuck me, daddy" comments, but it's youtube, so, can't really expect anything else).
So, what did Ryan do? He actually listened to his subscribers and stopped showing his face.
Well, until now. Now he's uploading horribly acted out ARG's and documentaries, although people are asking him to return to his old style of videos. Watching him trying to act is actual true horror.
Sucks, because I genuinely enjoyed his older videos.
Thanks for making this thread, by the way, now I feel a little less autistic for watching horror channels lol.
I quite like the ones Alice&Smith do. Black Watchmen, NITE Team 4 and Ahnayro are decent. They're sold as actual games you have to pay for (they're fairly reasonably priced on Steam) and for that you get a better product than a bunch of friends trying to make spooky found footage videos.
Nexpo's Rabb.it video was very interesting and informative, but padded out with cringe. It'd have a runtime of like 15 minutes otherwise. I do feel kinda bad for the guy, but mostly for comet0707, like goddamn man.
Can some people post a few specific videos they think are really good? If people recommend me a channel then I usually look at it, sub but never actually watch the person's videos unless they really catch my eye but if I see a good video of theirs first then it's a lot easier to keep up with them.

For Atrocity Guide, a good one to start with is probably Yvette's Bridal Formal. For Barely Sociable, Exploring a Reddit Cult is a pretty good one; the one on the Silk Road is quite good as well, but it's also over an hour, so I'm hesitant to recommend it as a place to start. For Reignbot, a fairly recent one I liked a lot was the one on the Glico-Morinaga Incident.

For Nexpo (even if his recent video is trash), his Disturbing Things series is good in general with exceptions to the videos of obvious animal calls that are made, but he also made genuinely good videos on Local58 and Ashvlogs.
For Nightmind I would recommend really his videos on I am Sophie and the Dad series. He is condescending at times which is the most major flaw with his videos.
As for others for FishStickonAStick I would recommend his videos on Sonic.Exe, the Slender Man movies, 1999, and Borderlands.
I thought Nexpo's recent video was a bit weird (but about Rabb.it--that explains what happened to that site. Sheesh), shame about him slipping up. His older videos were pretty good, and his Disturbing Things playlist was one of the first things I watched from the guy. I needed something to fill the void when I started to get tired of Rob Gavagan's videos (though on occasion, I still go back to his older videos), not helped that YouTube was fucking him over, and his channel came up before I knew it. His and ReignBot's showed up in recs at the same time, but something about ReignBot's voice doesn't sit well with me and I hadn't gone back to check her out, since.
Been looking around for more channels, so this thread's just what I needed.
I was linked offsite to his video on Jeffery Doucet, which was based, and I wish I found him sooner. But clearly the YouTube algorithm really hates him.

The topic was interesting in itself and I didn't honestly mind a more personal take on a lolcow since being stalked and defamed by one sounds kinda creepy from the experiences I heard... It's more on how at the end he and other mainstream creepy youtubers portray themselves as these badasses who will totally take her and her shady as fuck group down because it's tied to something MUCH worse... Like I get the sentiment, but do you guys have to larp that out?!

Down the Rabbit Hole - Fred has two types of focuses on his docs: His Internet History vids and his more Obscure History vids. For a REALLY good Unsettling Obscure History I would suggest The Mouse Utopia Experiments which is in its own way creepy as hell if you think about the outcome of controlling a Mice Society being reflected into a real world setting. His vid on Henry Darger is a mix between unsettling, sad, and fascinating.
Obsolete Oddity - I would suggest his playlist of his narrated historical videos as comfy background noises (purely watching the vid will lead you to some "spoopy motion graphics" which can de-immerse you a bit), but for single vid recommendations? The Papin Sisters and Hans Schmidt are personal favorites.
Pseudiom - Not a pure horror Youtube Channel, though a lot of his vids are fascinating nonetheless. For more interesting origins of weird historical stuff? Satans Kingdom and Libary of Babel. Personal recommendations though? George Psalmalazar and how he basically made a fanfic of Ancient Taiwan looking like the Temple of Doom into historical canon and almost got away with it. XD
I know a lot of others said it already, but Night Mind is really a fun channel. His video about DTMIS was pretty damn unique among the general banter and mattpatt theories bullshit I'm used to.
Frankly though it's all white noise and I use it to sleep.
I agree and recommend a lot of youtubers already mentioned.
Reignbot, Atrocity Guide, Nick Crowley, Stephanie Harlowe, since she puts so much effort and care into her true crime videos instead of treating them as a ghost story that most true crime youtubers do. She does have long sponsors at the beginning of videos but they’re easy to skip through.
Lutch Green is great for covering not as many well known cases.
Nexpo’s disturbing things series (kinda like Reignbots but they rarely ever cover the same things) is the only thing I like on his channel.
His newer videos have too much unnecessary padding, and of course his newest video was talked about enough already, but I wanted to add a few things I noticed that didn’t get brought up.
Something I’m seeing overlooked about the video is the fact that anyone who interacted with Nexpo at all would get spammed by this chick being called a pedo, so much so, in the video he featured a clip of Mutahar talking about it and the stalker was harassing Muta’s family which meant he had to deal with this chick’s issues personally making it not just an online issue.
His acting in the video made to pad it out (similar to what MamaMaxx does which turns me off from his content because it’s so tryhard it’s cringy), was just as cringe, especially the last part of the video. I guess it was a Hotline Miami thing, but I really don’t know. It just looked edgy for the sake of edginess, like he was gonna take over the job for her?
He also mentioned in the video this she had sent CP to a minor to prove she found it on rabb.it, but I really don’t see how that’s proof at all or why she had it saved and kept it all this time. His narrative came off as believing that must be true.
Sorry for how long winded that was, this just seemed like a good opportunity to put my perspective on it is all.
So I do see the need to make a video on the subject, it was just executed and acted as if it were another shitty ARG. Could’ve been much shorter without the padded acting.
Nexpos latest about the harassing weirdo lady was a 17 or so minute story that could have been stretched out to like 20-23 minutes and it could have been solid, but godamn did his faggot ass milk that shit into next week. As hammy and obnoxious as Chills is, at least the bulk of his silly shit isnt hyper-inflated like that. Pyrocynical would be all over that video if it was a furry.
"Some man rambles about God entering his body the same size? He is clearly mentally ill."
"Some woman rambles on Facebook with the speed of an AI? She is clearly mentally ill."
"Some woman rambles about government turning her crazy and trying to silence her? She is clearly... OH, WAIT, IT'S RUSSIA, THEN IT IS POSSIBLE SHE IS TELLING THE TRUTH".
Really, girl? Then her video about Hasekara. It's fine, but the final message "he now helps victims of cyberbullying, because, let's face it, he is an expert"... Yeah, with one little correction - he did virtually everything wrong! Fuck, by this logic ChrisChristine Sonichu can start his law practice right now, coupled with the advice on online dating. Same goes for the video on that fucknut, who travelled to Libya to LARP as a field medic and soldier. "He tried to help" - ehm, ok, and now Libya isn't a country anymore with such signs of democracy and progress as slave markets. Also, what's the point of making a video about doomsday subreddit from 2015? Like, it's obvious that it was a failure, considering that world is still here. Otherwise, kudos to her for moving away from "spo-o-oky" shit, because today it's either ARGs, or some obvious frauds, or promotions, or just the rehashes of the old stuff, it's almost as dead as creepypasta. Also, her video on Natsubi is great, can't recommend it enough.
Scare Theater: Not that bad, but sort of a shit catalogue covering stupid and easily debunked content. He shoots fish in a barrel.
He deserves to be put in a bag and beaten with bamboo sticks for his video on Desmond. I mean, who in the right mind would say "well, yeah, Alig killed that guy, chopped his corpse, threw the parts away and then bragged about it, BUT THAT GUY WAS A DRUG DEALER"? And how he told that Alig was clean, when you could fucking google that he was caught smoking meth couple of months prior... That's really fucked up, when you go so far to defend this shit.
One underrated horror youtuber that I really like is FishStickonAStick who is an /x/ user who does reviews on terrible creepypasta stories/movies some of which are really interesting like his videos on Jeff the Killer, 1999, and The Borderlands
Night Mind has come up a lot in this thread and for good reason, his older content still holds up and he seems to have calmed down a little from peak Twitter even if his quality has suffered with time. The thing we're missing from his story here is a good old-fashioned shitshow, and he's started about as many of those as you'd expect from a gay furry.
The guy has some mild bovine tendencies. Not enough for a thread by any stretch, but more than enough to warrant dropping a little collection of his antics off here while we're on the subject.
Before they were friends, when Nexpo was starting out as Nightmare Expo, Nick woke up one day with a bug up his ass and decided to have a go at Nightmare Expo by way of lavishing praise on another creator with similar ARG content in a now-deleted tweet for specifically not copying him. The passive-aggressive jab didn't go unnoticed, Nightmare Masterclass wagged a finger, Nightmare Expo agreed with Nightmare Masterclass and in a series of also deleted tweets called him narrow-minded and said he lost respect for him, and Night Mind flipped shit. This back and forth between the three of them and eventually ReignBot continued, and was mostly deleted. Kwite breaks down the Twitter catfight the day after.
II. Idiot Box
Max Landis became involved with the creepypasta community as a patron of Night Mind. Night Mind had become involved with the creepypasta community through Midnight Marinara, and at the time was on good terms with the Undercooked Analysis group consisting of founder David King, Dead Palette, and Slimebeast. Things were fine until Max Landis announced Candle Cove, the initial reception of which among the creepypasta community inspired Night Mind to crash a helicopter directly into all of his friendships to preserve his link to the Landis name.
After all was said and done, for some reason it was shilling for CryptTV that finally put Midnight Marinara himself over the edge.
III. Tranny Hat Rape
Night Mind and Nyx Fears had a little sleepover, and somehow a grown man with a cat puppet on his hand and a pronoun with a hat translated into this overblown onstream clusterfuck that took a year to resolve. A riveting tale of gender dysphoria, consent violation, and an apology so long Nick felt the need to write it on Medium instead of Tumblr.
One of the only things Nick enjoys more than apologizing is finding reasons to get assblasted at MatPat. The primary culprit is Five Nights at Freddy's lore and theories. There's not much more to it than that, he just can't stand MatPat and it's funny to watch him chimp at someone for putting in less than half the effort he does and getting several dozen times the views.
nightmind becoming more and more like matpat over time despite him being his Object Of Hate half the time will never not be both funny and sad to me at the same time. at least matpat has the spine to put his insane half-assed bullshit theories out there like he's an authority on art and actually stand by them, even when creators verify him as completely wrong like the FNAF thing.
Nick only focusing on things he sees as ARGs (emphasis on it being his perception instead of reality) has led to some of the most insecure fart-huffing i've ever seen, where someones creepy art project can suddenly become trash purely cause he can't solve the "puzzle" that isn't even there, because if the smartest ARG explainer on the internet couldn't figure out the correct answer it just must be a bad puzzle!
basic artistic interpretation goes down the drain as a concept for people obsessed with ARGs like him i've noticed, there's either a single thought/action/hidden message path that will lead to a giant exposition plot dump giving you a complete explanation of the story being told, or it's unfinished/too obtuse/badly written to them; the only exceptions are when the creators are so much larger and more well-respected (dad, wham city, don't hug me i'm scared etc.) in the creative horror world than they are, as that'd actually require them to come up with anything beyond "if you remember that key phrase from before" or "converting this code from base64 gets you a password for a website" and that's not going to happen at this rate.
the funniest example to me was his second petscop video, where instead of even attempting to come up with his own interpretation of the content he spent 40 minutes on a synopsis of, he essentially says "it hasn't given us the single correct solution and thus is disappointing and bad." like he's afraid of getting a bad grade on his paper. it's no wonder he's since stuck to the usual CREEPY WOMAN IN HOUSE? MAY BE HAUNTED! WHO IS KEEPING HER LOCKED IN THERE??? shit that never stops coming, as the only work it requires is someone in a discord group finding and solving a puzzle for you.
still love his early videos on Wham City's projects though, shame his content got worse as his mic quality got better.
(also adding that i think That Chapter is the most consistent and likable creator among all mentioned yet)
-Not long ago, I came across the channel Lady White Rabbit. I haven't seen much of her content yet but so far I like her stuff. Her video on Hisashi Ouchi was pretty interesting, so if you want to watch a video from her I can recommend that one.
