Haachama cooking is the one series that I really have trouble believing isn’t totally staged... or maybe I just HOPE it is, because some of those things she does wrong...

well, I was going to say it seems impossible to get so wrong, but we have several cows here that have cooking YT shows that stupid. Still, I really hope she doesn’t get herself sick.

It is, to an extent. Haachama knows how bad her cooking is normally but plays it up by being really fucking stupid about it. This is why people compare her to HowToBasic even if she never has eggs on hand due to allergies (which is also why she doesn't include them in her cooking.

As far as when she has her colleagues on stream, I think they know SOMEWHAT of what to expect but are still horrified nonetheless. I can't imagine anyone at hololive being ignorant of Haachama Cooking at this point, but they're still surprised to the depths she'll go in order to make those concoctions. The Red Bull Hot Pot comes to mind as it was a call-in stream nobody was obligated to help her with, which is why she had a 10 minute timer for it; every 10 minutes that passes without a call, she adds a Red Bull. Considering she eats everything she makes, she sounded legitimately horrified that nobody would call in towards the end of the stream when she had one ingredient left and would have to add in a can, but Kanata came in with 8 seconds left.

Even when they're not there they can see what's going on; Aki was watching that abomination of a hamburger being made today and commented with "YAMETEKUDASTOP."

1. Started the construction of a Shark monument
2. Got distracted like 10000000 times and did not finish it
3. Tried to make a christmas tree, borked the distribution of the samplings and the tree spawned wrong
4. While she was wandering decided to make a Tennis ball to troll Watson (she made a huge magnifying glass on the sky that looks like a tennis racket) could not find the ingredients to paint the cubes green, painted it Orange and singed the Space Jam theme
5. Went to the Atlantis construction site that Watson did, did not do anything, rip the dream
6. Got a bunch of eggs from Kiara farm, went to Haachama room and went full How To.. on her room throwing eggs everywhere

So yeah, i would not take Gura skills seriously, in other news Watson is threatening us with playing Rune Factory 4

Karen only needed the 1 job to stay in Japan, that being the English teaching one (it's obvious she is one by now.) The other job, "freelance animation," is exactly that and not really considered a job, but it is something she went to school for and something she likes getting paid to do. She didn't make a whole lot of money off Demondice, at least not enough to afford any luxuries. It was more or less a side gig for pocket change. Vtubing as Calliope definitely rakes in the big bucks for her these days but she's still stuck with teaching since it's the only one acknowledged by the Japanese government as being a legitimate occupation and thus allowing her visa. If she changed her visa to be something like "entertainer" or "video editor" under the employ of Cover she could probably get an endorsement from them to stay in Japan.

Kiara's moving out is a different story since she's stayed in Japan for a very long time, it's just now I'm guessing she wants to go home after being there for so long; she's been back and forth between Austria and Japan for years.

It isn't. They're salaried employees of Cover Corp, but there's a bit of confusion in regards to how it's treated due to things like finding living spaces.

Thing is, if you're an entertainer, you typically work for an agency. When Japanese landlords look at your employment (because they actually care what kind of job you have as opposed to whether or not you can afford rent) you have to provide them with your personal details as well as your stage name. Coco and Kanata went through an issue with this when trying to find an apartment, but Kanata was smart about it and said they can just say they're video editors so they wouldn't have to give up that they were vtubers working for Cover as part of hololive idol agency.

If it makes you feel any better, it's pretty clear from streams where other hololive members (unwillingly) watch her cook that she's doing a bit, and it's their job to be a proper straight man to her antics.

Questionable. She got Luna to break character, which as far as I can tell hasn’t happened before or after then. So it might be actual, physical disgust at Haachama violating the Geneva Conventions.

Agreed. Case in point — Pokimane. The mystique of the character is lost if you already know them too well behind the scenes, which is why I’m annoyed with HERfags in Gura’s chat. I’m not sure even turning it members only would improve the situation much at all.

I recently started expanding into more vtuber territory by watching Gura clips and some other holo vtubers. The experience is completely different, I enjoy them but I kinda feel like they're also more scripted. Not as in word for word but like they have an extra sense of what they can and cannot discuss etc. So while it's been fun and I definitely see the appeal, especially with Gura and Amelia, it's kinda different coming from streams where there are regular discussions about extreme hentai tags and streamers who can mostly

That’s a Western streaming attitude, wherein the streamer encourages the audience to partake in the stream. I’ve gotten my comment read in an under 5k viewer chat and participating in the stream was a fun time. Japanese/Eastern streaming is more like a play, where the audience is expected to just play along with what the streamer does and react appropriately.

Just realized you were talking about something else. Regular streamers have the same sort of avoided topics, its just not as obvious. If you make vidya reviews, you toe the line and can’t say X game sucks or is a cashgrab during a stream, or you get blacklisted from the industry and have to pay for copies to review on your own dime (ex Skillup). You talk about the wrong shit, your career is kill. You mention a boyfriend as an e-thot, your career is kill. Landmines everywhere.

I've seen the clip of her saying that she drank the tap water in the Phillippines and it made her get really sick, but she recovered and now has a cast-iron stomach.
