No, they do turn out for them in droves and the poll workers are mostly them.
Speaking as one from pozzed NY.
They could have just let him have it and then pull a "Sic semper tyrannis."
If they did that, they'd have to false flag it and have the assassin claim to be the most over-the-top alt-right caricature to deflect criticism.
Of course, the last time they did that, they had a US Marine and possible unofficial spy who claimed to be a Marxist, or the most over-the-top straw Marxist there was at the time.
Coincidentally, that massively backfired and now the Kennedy Assassination is one of the most mainstream conspiracy theories and probably the only one that's even semi-socially acceptable to openly consider.
none of the prior impeachments were for someone as out of line as Gretchen. There’s a possibility that it goes somewhere.
The only impeached American politician who's as brazenly corrupt as Whitmer was Andrew Johnson, who was literally acquitted by a single vote. If the thresholds for impeachment at the state level only require a majority and not strictly a supermajority, she's fucked.
The national DNC would also be glad to throw her under the bus since she's state-level and doesn't have the dynastic prestige of Cuomo and unlike Northam, she's not the governor of one of those dang dirty Southern states that needed to be put in their place.
Ralph Northam and Terry McAuliff more or less transformed one of the Southern states and a Bible Belt stronghold into a deep blue stronghold (with help from Bloomberg and NoVA yuppies, but still) so they're set for life in the Democratic Party on the national level.
Whitmer doesn't have that in her favor since Michigan is a Northern state that went from a deep blue union state to a potential swing state under her watch. She's more corrupt than a Third World dictator and doesn't have the excuse of being from New York and belonging to a political dynasty like Andrew Cuomo does
The DNC disavowing Gretchen would probably actually help them in Michigan more than if the national-level Dems stood by her.
