I seem to remember Godwinson saying he has no problem with people making money per se, and PPP has his tasteful Paypal button. The issue is more, like, hardcore grifting. When you have two minute paid promos in a ten minute video, when you interrupt every five minutes of a stream to read out supershekels, when you paywall what basically amounts to a vlog about some gay internet shit, when you're constantly asking for donations and subs and likes and shares...

Part of it for me too is they act like Google hired them and is keeping their salary from them. Google is not their employer in the sense that they did not pick you, you showed up, volunteered, and then expect to be paid. While they should apply their rules evenly, it's not like a boss who hired you, you did the job as asked, and then they kept the check. You volunteer, give whatever quality and type of content you want, and then expect thousands of dollars.

This is where the fantasy and reality becomes blurred. PPP has been joking for years about giving money in the streams. If you watch the early Cooking with Surfers, there are jokes about monetization - 'Get NordVPN promo code PPP'.' It was part of the bit. What's different now, is people seem to give. It's tough to tell if they are or not. One person there claims to have given Godwinson games.

At least they don't talk about something serious like child abuse and then bust in, 'I could use a ninjet'. It's dancing with a pastry and asking for a game. People don't have to give. And who knows what - if anything - was? Did people really just give a penny? Just two pennies?

They still make content regardless of what, if anything, is given. I've always taken it as their main complaint is when the content is made solely for the grift or it alters what you do so much that you are untrue to yourself, that you censor so much to keep the money your content is inauthentic.
