Some new fearmongering:

People who walk their dogs are 78% more likely to contract COVID-19, new study finds

Two executives (CEO and senior VP) of the California Medical Association, a nonprofit organization that lobbies for physicians and public health, were in attendance at the French Laundry party.
Dogs shitting and pissing on your floor is preferable, yes. Or perhaps you are supposed to eat your dog? In a good stir fry, of course.

New Orleans announces there will be no parades for Mardi Gras next year.

  1. Is the City of New Orleans celebrating Mardi Gras in 2021?
  • The City of New Orleans cannot cancel Mardi Gras because it is a religious Holiday, however we will not be able to celebrate the Holiday this year as we have in the past
  1. Will there be parades in the City of New Orleans this year?
  • Parades of any kind will not be permitted this year because large gatherings have proven to be super spreader events of the COVID-19 virus

These mayors and governors are trying to decimate small businesses and totally wreck their cities' budgets. Mardi Gras generates around $1 billion dollars for the local economy.

So riddle me this, Batman: How is the New Orleans economy going to recover the windfall that usually comes from Mardi Gras celebrations? Cancelling it outright could be devastating to many in that area (who honestly depend on these events to survive). There's a huge service sector down there, and although it would be impossible to hold the parade itself, you could do controlled entry or something.

Just don't cancel it outright for reasons of "safety".
This is just an infinitesimal part of the horrible societal price we will be paying over years to come for the unwarranted fearmongering by government and the media. Enough to make a thinking person cry.
And there will be much more to come. Not just from the lockdowns themselves, but people afraid to do much of anything in the future, even with the vaccine. You could already name a handful of industries getting destroyed or ruined without even thinking about it.

Those are millions of jobs lost. Billions in revenue lost. That lost revenue affects other industries in turn. Thus a ripple effect that affects every single person.
So I guess with Biden coming in, China will face zero repercussions for quite literally ruining the entire world. That's just lovely (:_(
Pretty much. China's culture of appeasing the higher-ups and hyper-focus on public image caused this to spread as fast as it has. It's killed millions (albeit mostly elderly and immunocompromised), and ruined the lives of millions more throughout the world.

In most circumstances, this would be considered as an act of war. Now? Just like giving Hitler the Sudetenland.

It would be more like Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin defeating and telling Hitler to stay in his lane, but completely ignoring the fact that his Final Solution was a big success and he managed to get any runaways and hidden Jews.

But back to this, I feel bad for any teenager not in college. An entire generation of kids pozzed, all thanks to a virus. And for college kids, there goes that "college experience." Imagine paying loans to keep studying despite this...

Does anyone else think it's funny how so many self proclaimed "Queer anarchists" and "Communist punks" that have been larping as badass anti government revolutionaries over the past four years are now sucking the government's dick so hard the color is coming off over Covid?
I find it positively hilarious the same people who complain about "income inequality" and demand we do something about the 1% are the same people who are the biggest supporters of lockdowns and restrictions that are causing among the greatest transfers of wealth to the elite in history.

But most of these people are pretty stupid since they believe that raising the minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour and instituting UBI is all you need to end wealth inequality.

I'm moving to Florida.
No don't. Just find some farm town outside Appleton where nobody gives a fuck what the governor says. Don't go down to the sweaty hell that is Florida. You will regret it. It looks good in the brochures and is fine to visit. But for most of the year it is uninhabitable except for the most resilient meth mutants.

It's like being waterboarded with a damp, hot wool blanket for a significant portion of the year. And to add to that, the parts of Florida that do get chilly in winter retain the humidity. Cold, wet air saps all the heat off your body so it's cold as piss sometimes as well.

Well, I highly doubt that anyone from Wisconsin would consider anything in Florida cold but the whole "being suffocated with a steaming wool blanket" is absolutely true. Summer in FL (and anywhere on the Gulf Coast) is a certain kind of hell you have to experience to fully understand.

I get the pleasure of having to work everywhere and one time I recall just bolting some crap together in the shade outside Tampa in late July I was sweating through MY SHOES. Doing almost nothing. I was fighting the continuation of my very existence just exposing myself to the weather. Then it rained. Not just any rain. NOAH BUILD AN ARC kind of rain. For hours. Then, once the flooding subsides, the humidity starts building again for tomorrow.

114F Tucson egg-frying on the sidewalk heat doesn't have shit on that. Avoid.

Man shot after telling women to put masks on in Ohio store, male suspect arrested

Excerpt:
Straley said the incident began when he saw two women inside the store not wearing masks. When he told them to put their face coverings on, the women argued with him, before calling the suspect who shot him in the leg.

The suspect showed up at the store in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with Ohio License Plate GEMO.

Straley told police that he asked the employees at Save A Lot to call 911 but, "that was too much to ask" so he drove himself back home.

Welp, its about time I walked my cat

I walk my underwear, with me in it

Had a phone conversation with some extended family earlier tonight about the holidays. My in-laws are exceedingly paranoid about the coof.

They were celebrating the fact that nobody is going anywhere to see people during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Like, they almost sounded jovial over everyone canceling their plans to stay home and not be with each other. I could tell that my husband was hurt over it, too. He doesn't want to spend the Holidays away from his parents or siblings, and I don't want that either. However, they have bought the narrative hook, line, and sinker. It's fucking depressing, y'all. We even offered to quarantine for a couple of weeks just to enjoy the Holidays with them normally, and they are just not having it.

Luckily my parents don't share the same sentiments, and we're going to see them for both Holidays. We're taking some precautions, of course, but THANK GOD they aren't so paranoid that they believe we all need to be locked up until ... Forever, I guess!

Thanksgiving is going to be the first time I'll be able to embrace my parents since February. This year just ... It sucks so hard, and it definitely appears that 2021 is going to be no different.

Fuck you China, and fuck you lockdown-hungry authoritarians.

On a side note, my husband and I are seriously considering taking a road trip to either Tennessee or Florida this coming Winter ... Just to be defiant. And, you know, to have fun.
