Dumb Shit on Wikipedia

I've only ever really noticed "woke" stuff on a few contemporary politics articles.
I think "wokethink" is definitely more widespread. Like the "toy" article still has that previously mentioned section on gender. And yeah, there's plenty of articles on social "justice" related topics, like "cultural appropriation" and "manspreading".

But yeah, the reliability of Wikipedia overall isn't all there.

I don't look up manspreading on Wikipedia because who has time for that shit? I've only ever come across it on a few left biased politics articles like fearmongering over the "boogaloo movement".

I remember the English article for Uesugi Kenshin has a whole section dedicated to the quackpot theory of him actually being a woman despite there being zero concrete evidence to it, I mean it was made up by some novelist for fuck's sake, meanwhile on the Japanese version of the page it's not even mentioned. The English one really tries its hardest to convince you like the theory is considered seriously by anyone who has studied the history of the period.

It does. Fortunately it at least says it's only a theory for now.

Japanese Wikipedia is better than I expected. I was expecting a lot of war crimes denial thanks to nettoyoku (Japanese version of /pol/tards) editors, but there is actually a comprehensive article on Unit 731 and various other war crimes.

Yeah quite a few different language versions of Wikipedia are actually quite decent, especially if you want to look up something from the country the language is spoken in (good luck learning the language first though), then you have disasters like the English Wikipedia where there's constant autistic edit wars and retarded rules which are sometimes enforced and sometimes not and autists who just love making articles about whatever banal shit they want, then you have absolute shitholes like that Scots wikipedia whose editor was some dumb kid from the US who didn't speak the language and thought it was just hilarious to write everything in a Scottish accent.

Yeah, but as I said, 2020 removed any remaining doubt.

It sucks too. Wikipedia is easier to use than other online encyclopedias AFAIK. Especially if other online encyclopedias have crap like paywalls or other limited access BS - or only have short blurbs on everything. And yet Wikipedia is infested with "wokethink" and other political agendas. Not to mention trolling.
For me, it was how Samus Aran was trans and the only thing that stopped it was an obscure piece of information.
I've only ever really noticed "woke" stuff on a few contemporary politics articles. The bigger issue is just general lack of reliability.
Reliability and the fact that they have an network of confusing, if not conflicting policies that prevents original research.

Ghar Kab Ao Gey is a 2000 Pakistani Urdu language action film directed by Iqbal Kashmiri which was released across theaters in Pakistan on Eid-ul-Fittar day 9 January 2000.[1]

Interesting title, tell me what it's about.

Plot

Terrorist named Prithvi and Charles Sobhraj bombs Karachi. They are extremists of Hindu and Jewish religion. A Pakistani commando team is sent abroad to kill the terrorists. 4 commondos including Shan and Ahsan Khan went in Sobrash's Island and a Hindu lady Reema also helped them. They killed Sobrash and other terrorists but Shan Shahid also died.
Fascinating and tolerant plot, how well did the movie do?

Film business

This was a super-hit film in 2000.[2]
Good to hear.

I really want to rewrite the OP for this thread. It is lazy, shitty, and just more or less a shitpost. As small as this thread is, I think it is actually one of the better ones on the site, and I blighted it with my absolute faggot OP. Seriously look at it, it's bad. What should be in it? I think there should be at least a half-dozen sections, that should link to parts of serious Wikipedian dumbness in the thread.

I want to take a day or so at some point to make the OP at least semi-useful. Is this worth doing?

Also, this isn't particularly egregious, but it just annoyed the shit out of me today. Here's the article on Burzum. It isn't particularly awful in and of itself but this just annoyed me:

The word "burzum" means "darkness" in the black speech, a fictional language crafted by Lord of the Rings writer J. R. R. Tolkien.[8] Burzum's lyrics and imagery are often inspired by fantasy and Norse mythology, and do not feature the political views Vikernes is known for.[9]

I don't actually have so much difficulty with the content, which is obviously true, but just that they somehow felt the need to deny that J.R.R. Tolkien is somehow some kind of Nazi just because Varg Vikernes used a word he coined. What kind of fucking world do we live in where it was even necessary to point this out? This isn't so much a "dumb shit on Wikipedia" post as a dumb shit in reality post because only in a world with SJWs in it would anyone even feel it necessary to point this out.

It isn't reminding the reader that Tolkien wasn't a Nazi, it's just a very poorly written passage that jumps from where Varg got his project name from to what his lyrics are about.

I kind of like that about it. You are refusing to take Wikipedia as seriously as its adherents do.
Here I am tarding about actual quality in posts when I should be just shitposting. Still, I want to fix this OP. It sucks. I feel like I suck so long as it continues to suck as much as it does.
