I feel strange saying this, but I really don't think that they are a cult. Not because I think their beliefs are sane or rational, but a cult is about more than just beliefs. Cults have mechanisms that they use to keep cultists in, they keep their members isolated, they replace all of their members interactions with the cult. As far as I can see, Q doesn't force you to forsake all your friends outside the cult (not in a systematic way at least. The degree to which they demonize liberals could lead to that), they don't make you take part in Q rituals, you don't need to permanently mark yourself as a Qtard, and there's no attempt to punish people for leaving. Some people voluntarily do these things in the name of Q, but it's not a thorough, systematic attempt to inculcate members.

In a way it's kind of creepy but also kind of a relief that in 5 years you'll probably have friends (assuming that you have a normal friend network) who were Q fanatics in 2020 and you won't even know. The same can't be said for troons or Scientologists who will (at a minimum) be unable to extricate themselves socially from their cult without making a complete break and being forced to rebuild an identity in opposition to their cult.

A woman at my gym who I am FB friends with is a QAnon believer. She's legit batshit insane. Anti-vax, anti-modern medicine, etc.. She believes anyone who is successful sold their soul to satan. She was sexually abused as a child, so I give her a pass on being nuts, but she literally pushes that propaganda 24/7. Anyone who doesn't buy it is "unwoke" and will soon be "woke" and begging for help. She is a huge Trumper and her weird looking boyfriend is the same way. It's astonishing how brainwashed she is

It would be interesting for a psychiatric study to go over Q as a cult because if it is one its none standard. Usually cults have a hierarchy fully controlled by the central figure, because no one is fully sure who Q is or if its multiple people its a weird self replicating cult with multiple grifters placing themselves as the cult officers to siphon the benefits. With the anonymity of its "leader" people can form their own little DIY mini cults.

I'd say Q isn't so much a cult as a free-floating doctrine that cults can form around- much like a lot of New Age beliefs or fringe Christian sects, you have the more casual "nutty-but-with-one-foot-in-reality" types, and then smaller cells of true die-hards that function as cults.

Dems are still gonna control the house probably and it looks like Reps are actually going to lose one seat in the senate. That said unless the Georgia runoff go incredibly poorly for the Republicans, they'll still hold the Senate and make gains in the house even if they don't flip it.

So I wouldn't say Red Wave, but they did much, much better than expected. It's quite rare for the Pres to flip but his party to not get a trifecta. I also expect Biden will be more likely to try to get along with Republicans to some degree and we hopefully won't get a repeat of the absolute nonsense of the last two administrations and their opposing parties. Biden is a senile and probably easily controllable puppet. He might not even get in honestly if SCOTUS gets involved. Doubt they'd let him honestly try to reconcile anything though, sad as it is. Reconciliation is rarely on the minds of either side of any major conflict, whether of interest or actual war. They got banned off of most social media sites in the run up to the election. I went looking around 8kun when the election turned against Trump and it was dead, it appears that the entire Q community had very little to do with Q himself or 8kun. It was just a mechanism to feel like they had the Dems on the run without actually doing anything, something that the /pol/ users commented on back in the early months of the Q-larp. I think it would be wise to split the community into two groups, the crowd there just to socialize and the true fanatics. In the old days people would join groups like the Knights of Columbus or Freemasons, two groups that have a fair amount of ceremony and antics for its members to engage in when joining. The Q-larp is just a substitute for these social clubs, replete with the "secrecy." The fanatics just ended up attaching to this Q shit instead of some nearby cult or Scientology.

Q and the rest of the far-right aren't compatible for the simple reason that most Qultists are roughly pro status-quo (they want the status quo of, say, 10-30 years ago back, but that's it), while most of the far-right disagree with pretty fundamental elements of the status quo (egalitarianism, democracy, pacifism, internationalism, etc.)
